Halo 4 has something different and refreshing

It has something that hasn’t been in a Halo game since Halo CE and Halo 2. Mystery…

Halo CE we knew it would deal with a Halo but we had no idea where the story would begin and where it would end. Halo 2 we really had no idea what was going to happen from start to finish. Halo 3 we kinda knew where chief was going and the ending options were either live and finish the fight or die trying. In Halo 4 we know where chief is heading but the place is very mysterious none of us can even really start to guess where the game will end. Think about the last Halo games to release(excluding Wars) Halo 3 ODST we knew what was going to go down. I’m not saying it was a bad story I thought it was pretty great. Halo Reach we knew the beginning and the end we just didn’t know how all the little twists were going to fit in. And any true Halo fan would know all the story of CEA.

To me this is going to be the first Halo campaign since Halo 2 to really be a big mystery to me. I have no idea where the story is heading and I really want to keep it that way. The Gameinformer partially ruined a big chunk of that for me.

So what is the point of this thread? The point is to try and get 343 to reveal as little as possible about Halo 4’s campaign as they can. Reach and Halo 3 in particular did a really horrible job at making things feel “for the first time” for me when playing. Their was only like one mission that I played that I couldn’t really remember from press coverage.

PLEASE 343… If you’re going to show off campaign just make it the first couple minutes as we’ve already heard about that. I don’t feel like having say 8 out of 10 missions ruined for me by watching all the coverage… I’m going to watch anything that has Halo 4 in the title because I can’t control myself… I pretty much use the internet in general as a Halo 4 search function. Please try to refrain from showing off a ton of campaign.

Thank you for your time.

That’s exactly why I’m going dark along with the release of a campaign trailer/video (without watching it). I don’t even want to know who the enemy is…

In Reach, playing the game seemed like a second playthrough…

I’d like to know what the new enemy is. I’d actually like to know what I’m buying.

I agree with you OP, when I put Halo 4 in the tray I want to be amazed, I want to feel like a newbie playing a new game. I want it to feel new and fresh, to enter an unknown world with unknown enemies and alien weapons.
The biggest letdown would be if I grab the controller, get in my Hog with my BR equipped and blast through the regular enemies for 8 hours with nothing new, just like when you play a CoD. New game = NEW game, not “same old game but with fancy graphics and a few gimmmics”.
Amaze me 343i, impress me, blow my mind, just like Bungie did with the first Halo games.

Reach seemed like a second playthrough and Halo 3 felt like I was getting about a demo-worth of new things. Honestly maybe 2 missions felt new. Reach everything was already shown before the game released. I didn’t like it before or after it was released. Reach was too bland all around. The only 2 missions that felt different were NA and LNOS. Halo 4 should have some varying themes to keep it fresh like H1 and H2.
