Halo 4, Handheld Shield?

> > I apologize; when the majority spam the forums with “Hey wouldn’t it be cool to have THIS CoD feature in Halo!?”, I start to become cynical with the minority.

> If all fairness, there has been way too much of that lately. Everything from Kill Streaks, Kill Cams, Weapon Attachments, EXP system… all manner of CoD elements have been recommended for H4. Everyday it’s a new element. Nothing wrong with the suggestion on it’s own, but when you see a half dozen in a day, let alone in a week, it feels like people want to turn H4 into CoD.

I myself don’t like CoD’s gameplay, but I found that an addition of a shield like weapon would be a good idea.

  1. Start a poll in the polling section to see how many bite to the idea.

  2. I like the idea, it wouldn’t be a far stretch to let players use this, only issue? What mechanics would have to be implemented to avoid people abusing it to avoid headshots while they spam shots… that and it should not have a melee option if they did bring it over.

Well I was thinking that while using said shield, the player should only be capable of using light weaponry. They’d also still be fully vunerable from behind.

Spartans don’t really need it because they have energy shields in their suits.

I see what you’re trying to say, but:

  1. Extra Protection is never a bad thing?
  2. When their shields go out, they’d really appreciate a little backup.

So like a jackal shield, for the sake of halo?

Yeah. An energy shield that has the defensive traits of the riot shield.

lol is this guy serious?

I am. Problem?

> Master Chief and other Spartans have used the Jackal’s personal shield in the novels before.

As far as I remember, only with the Mark IV, before they get their personal shield system with the Mark V.

I wouldn’t think a riot sheild would be anything worthy of halo while halo has already had something so much more powerfull. Bubble sheilds, and deployable cover equipments.

School’s out for Xmas… If you want a riot shield go to sleep on Xmas eve and see if Santa left MW3 in your stocking.

Maybe we will get to use the jackal shield!

There are two flaws with your statement:

  1. I already have MW3
  2. I didn’t make this topic because I like the riot shield in MW3, I simply used it for comparison. Actually read through the thread next time.

Gonna have to disagree. You’re wearing an armor that provides a shield for you. In which this technology derives from the Jackal’s Energy Shields, but improved.
I just don’t see the use of it. IMO, it kinda strays from the core gameplay of Halo.
I also think it could also bring the same problem some players are experiencing with Reach, but worse. Which is the sprint double-pummel.
I’m not sure if sprint would make a return on Halo 4, but if it were to return and the Riot Shield were to come for Halo 4, we would be seeing threads for the removal of it.

I appreciate that you actually provided valid reasoning instead of saying “go get MW3”.

But I’m saying we should atleast get it for forging, as it would have great potential for custom games without energy shields and for machinimas as well.

I’d like to see a usable jackal shield in Halo 4. Spartans have used jackal shields in the books so no one can complain about it “not being canon.”

Just don’t call it a riot shield. Dangit.

I would be fine with a shield, any shield. Not needed, but could be fun.

I don’t know about anyone else, but i would give anything to do this to a running or sprinting enemy.Sparta
Epic Shield Win!

I’ve always wanted, and I’m sure many of you agree, to use the Jackel shield. Maybe they can give us something like that? And if Jackels don’t appear in Halo 4 they can make some type of Forerunner shield.

Also, enough with the “CoD” crap. These two games are nothing alike.
