I was thinking, maybe Halo 4 could have a weapon like CoD’s riot shield. Maybe not for matchmaking, but more geared towards forge and custom games? Thoughts?
Deployable Cover? o.O
What’s with all the CoD feedback?
We have deployable covers and bubble shields. Not to mention, your spartan has a shield in his suit.

No, I mean more like something that is impenatrable but you can carry around, in front of you. I just thought it might be an interesting addition.

I know right, there’s been allot of it today, but I guess there is no harm in it, I guess it could work like some sort of temporary Jackal shield that would pop up for a very short amount of time and would only be effective against rockets or grenade spam, but it would last so shortly that if you were to pop it up at the wrong time you could end up taking a rocket directly to the face. But I highly doubt that it will be in Halo 4’s mainstream multi-player, it is more likely to become a forging gadget.

You guys are starting to get what I’m trying to say. I was imagining something like that, but a shield entirely for forge/custom games (so whether it’s OP or not is irrelevant) and is ‘unbreakable’.
Why on earth would a Spartan or an Elite need a riot shield in the 26th century? Enough with the CoD stuff.

Uh, to defend themselves against enemy fire, especially when they lose their energy shields.

Just direct him to the previous answers, I think they should suffice his queries, also you should change the title of this post, this is Halo almost everything is energy based people aren’t going to want ceramic riot shields in Halo, it would be like jumping back in time.
I know one things a lot of fans have been wanting is to be able to use the Jackal Energy Shield since at least Halo 3. It would be kind of cool to use, if not in matchmaking then in forge or customs.

I understand what you’re trying to say. But most energy weapons originate from either the covenant or the forerunners. Most UNSC weapons and vehicles run off lead bullets, with the occassional laser technology, which is why I thought a UNSC riot shield might be a good idea.
I just puked a little…
As for the Jackal (or whatever) Shield, it will only work if there is dual wielding, but could be totally awesome.

Read Halo Glasslands and then you will realize that the UNSC has started to revers engineer forerunner tech themselves, ballistic and panoramic plating has now become obsolete and allot of things are energy based, the fact that the UNSC Infinity is going to be in Halo 4 means that almost all the equipment of the ship will be energy based because of how much forerunner tech it has been pumped up with, especially any kind of shield technology. You’re describing a UNSC before the Human-Covenant war, not after it.

If “getting gamers back into Halo” means “getting more CoD fans,” then you guys can happily return to your MW3 forums…
Master Chief and other Spartans have used the Jackal’s personal shield in the novels before.

Sorry for that, edited my post to make it more relevant

Thanks for making the false assumtpion that I am a CoD fan. I am not. I only play it every once in a while, I just thought the addition of a riot shield like weapon in Halo would be a cool concept.
Drift, I did not know that, thanks for informing me. Though I still believe some defensive ‘weapons’ need to be added in Halo 4, as Halo seems to be more offense than anything else. This could include shields among many other things.
Also Ran, wasn’t trying to be rude, I just wanted this thread to be productive.
I really, REALLY wouldn’t call it a riot shield. That does not sound or feel like Halo in any capacity. The closest thing we would get to this is the ability to use a jackal’s shield.

Now that would be interesting…
