Halo 4: Halo 3 or Reach? Question Answered.

A question commonly asked is: “Does Halo 4 feel more like Halo 3 or Halo: Reach?” To sum up that question, I have created this thread. Post here the aspects of Halo 4 and in what game category they belong in (I’ve already started!), and I will update the post.

Halo: Reach

  1. Armor abilities
  2. Return of DMR
  3. Loadouts
  4. Assassination animations
  5. No dual wielding
  6. Spartan currency/credits

Halo 3

  1. Grenade splash damage
  2. Return of BR & Carbine
  3. Master Chief reappearance
  4. Strafing/Movement speed
  5. Dedicated Multiplayer maps
  6. Bleedthrough

Mix

  1. Minimal bloom
  2. Minimal fall damage
  3. Jump height
  4. Return of covenant

Brand New:

  1. Specializations
  2. Tactical Packages & Support Packages
  3. Firefight removed; Spartan Ops as replacement
  4. New enemy class, known as “Prometheans”

Reach: Loadouts.

I played it.

I’d say it’s unlike all the others I think. It’s like, this new evolution of halo. It feels so great!

Reach animations

Jump height is said to be between Reach and 3. Strafe is supposedly Halo 3 and movement speed.

halo reach:

  1. bloom
  2. DMR
  3. armour abilities
  4. load outs
  5. progression based ranking system instead of skill
  6. no dual wield
  7. fall damage

halo 3:

  1. weapon sandbox
  2. decent maps

uhm, can’t think of any more for halo 3, little help?

What about Halo 3 movement speed and jump height? It has those doesn’t it? Unless i’m mistaking…

i’ve heard that its reachs movement and i’ve heard its halo 3s movement, both from people who’ve played it so we really can’t say.

I thought it was confirmed to have both progression and skill systems?

i’m pretty sure that skill doesn’t effect the global ranking system just like in reach.

So it’ll just be playlist specific again I assume?

My friend said that strafing is really effective so I think that it’s more close to Halo 3 than Reach.

thats what i’m expecting, we really need more concreate information on this, lets hope we get everything, or… most of what we’re looking for at PAX this weekend!

and my friend said it was nearly impossible to strafe just like in reach, video shows some awkward strafing and other videos show decent strafing so we really can’t say.

Bleedthrough is said to be like Halo 3.

Nades are said to have a little bouncy physics

Halo 3: ranked playlists
Halo Reach: Arena

> Halo Reach: Arena

Those aren’t really relevant to Halo 4.
