I totally agree against Covenant the grenades seem mildly useless but tbh in MM i think there great
> want stronger grenades? play reach, those things are mini nukes. plus, people were ASKING for halo 3 type grenades, nice and weak, but in the right hands a killing machine
I never had problems moving away from Reach’s grenades. I felt they were balanced; the fuse wasn’t so short that I didn’t have time move yet not long enough to make them useless. I died by them plenty of times, but they were deserved because I was stupid enough to not pay attention to my surroundings.
Ok, so a nerf on H4s grenades I can put up with, but grenades are practicallyy useless in H4
explosives upgrade in your loadout selection. enables enhanced explosive damage, and resistance.
also, grenades in legendary are just rocks. but i didnt see it as much of a problem unless using pulse grenades.
grenades are very effective in MP if used right. dont see a issue. i see a issue with the SAW LMG more then i do any other gun.
Um…grenades in Halo 4 are good as support weaponry…like they should be.
They’re strong enough to support an attack/defense, but not so strong that they become the primary go-to weapon of choice (like they did in Reach).
Besides, the Explosives Support Package makes them noticeably more powerful, along with reducing the effects of grenades etc on yourself. I use this for CQC-style modes, like KoTH. If you’re someone who definitely wants mo’ powa! in their grenades, be sure to use it.
I remember back in the bungie days people complained about how the gernades were spamable and mini nukes, now people are saying the gernades are too weak and less abundant.
I’d much rather have my grenades be “too weak” like in Halo 4 than mini nukes like in Halo Reach. The nades are fine, leave them alone. My only issue is when I sticky a Warthog it doesn’t blow it up anymore. Meh, I throw two everytime now. Thank god they nerfed those ridiculous Reach nades.
grenades are almost useless in this game , i prefer Reach’s grenades
i had no complain for the grenades until i went for todays CTF challenge. I stuck a hog grenade blew and it just kept driving :O, i dont want an automatic double kill but at least flip the vehicle
Well, I spent some time by myself on a map, and threw a grenade right under my feet. I think the biggest problem is that the grenades don’t have a killzone. I guess canonically it would make sense that a spartan in full armor would be able to survive a direct grenade explosion, but for the sake of gameplay…
I really didn’t see reach’s grenades as mini-nukes…No way are they anywhere near what the grenades in Halo CE were. I thought they were pretty balanced, maybe a little bit too overpowered. I shouldn’t have to use an ability or whatever they are calling it to have an effective grenade. Besides, I wanted to use that “ability” on driving. :3
Grenades aren’t terrible, but I’ve found that they’re only effective at long ranges now. At short ranges, unless someone is literally cornered, they aren’t threatening in the slightest due to the indicator on your HUD. If you’re fairly accurate with long-range throws, however, the grenade will explode upon impact.
and i notice stickys sometimes dont stick properly i never seen stickys work so lackluster in 3 and reach they worked much better
lol At the current moment it feels like most of my deaths in a game come from panic-naders.
They are perfect in MM in my mind…
Campaign as well
You’re right, i hate how you can stick a warthog with a plasma and yet not even damage the people inside it.
Personally, after playing all of the halo games and using grenades (frags mostly) a ridiculous amount throughout them all, I really do have to say that they do feel incredibly weak in Halo 4.
I’m not sure if it’s because too many bad players complained about how much they would die from a well placed Frag and a shot to the head, or whether it was the fact skilled grenades allowed you to take on more than one enemy without having to resort to running or relying on teammates, but right now it’s nearly impossible to do what you could in say Halo 3 with grenades.
The blast radius is too small and the damage too little, it doesn’t need a major buff, but it should be able to take out someone’s shields if it lands at their feet.
Also the bounce is INSANE right now, like it needs some better control added to it
Also, the grenade indicator NEEDS TO GO. I know most people aren’t bad enough players that they need a giant arrow and grenade symbol popping up to say “THERE’S A GRENADE HERE, RUN!” like it almost defeats the purpose of grenades since unless you timed it FLAWLESSLY then players can easily get out of range >.>

Hah funny you say that. I actually like that. I haven’t played too much multiplayer, so I haven’t really seen what it’s like to stick a warthog yet, but it makes sense to me that a VEHICLE should offer some limited protection from explosives, especially seeing as that it is ostensibly armored and so are the occupants. I like my warthog to not be a pushover.

I actually tested it. It DOES take out one’s shields, but in no way does it come close to killing someone, provided you are in the center of the blast. And if you are just a tiny bit off of dead center from the explosion, then it won’t take out the shields entirely. And yeah the bounce is pretty crazy, it was frustrating practically throwing it at someone’s feet and watching it bounce 10 feet away (hyperbole).
i can’t tell you how many times i have watched a sticky grenade…BOUNCE off of an enemy (covenant/spartan/promethian) and vehicles… within the first few seconds of a throw it seems stickies aren’t well…sticky… and yes blast has been toned down ALOT… gotta be right under them to kill them… even with the grenade ability that makes grenades better doesn’t do enough…
The grenades have gotten weaker with each halo game but i hope they make them a bit stronger because i can only killed 2 grunts a a time on campaign they need to be more like the ones in reach or halo 3.
