Halo 4 Grenades Weak

Well, been playing halo 4 for a week now, and overall it’s fantastic. My only real complaint would be the grenades. Does anyone else think that they are too weak? I’ve noticed that even grunts can survive them easily, and they are pretty much useless against anything that has a shield. The frag grenades are ridiculously bouncy, too, making it hard to make them hit their target. Granted, I was playing on legendary, but in every other halo game I can say that the grenades have been useful and saved me many times. But I hesitate to even use them now. Thoughts guys? Maybe suggestions on how to use them properly? Does anyone know if there might be a patch for multiplayer at least? Sorry if there is another post on this, I looked and didn’t see anything really about it.

I can’t count the amount of times I’ve had full shields and died by a panic grenadier.

I do think the grenades aren’t very strong or have a reduced splash damage. But it is still very satisfying to get a sticky!

He seemed to be talking about Covenant enemies, not War Games… :confused:

I haven’t noticed it much dring the campaign, but in MM they’re akin to party poppers.

want stronger grenades? play reach, those things are mini nukes. plus, people were ASKING for halo 3 type grenades, nice and weak, but in the right hands a killing machine

I actually really liked halo reach’s grenades, and disliked halo 2’s before the patch very much. Halo 3’s were ok. TBH my favorite grenades were the ones from halo 1. Room-clearers :stuck_out_tongue: It’s not that I want the grenades to be anywhere near halo 1’s strength, or even halo reach’s, but they are very weak from what I’ve seen. Isn’t part of the point to be able to kill multiple enemies? The effective blast radius is so small that they don’t do a good job of that. I haven’t really played multiplayer as much, yet, but I imagine there is probably a parallel complaint to be had for mp.

even with the explosive perk ( yeah perk) they still have a small radius. it sucks in mm, in halo3 and reach i would take on 2 guys at once cause i knew i could pop a nade and then get the kills but now i only have them to stick vehicles. it’s bs

yea even with the Explosives perk I haven’t noticed an increase in blast damage/radius. It’s still meh.

the worst grenade (pulse grenade) which is the least used, you spawn with only 1 when you equip it instead of 2 for plasma/frag.

that is the only gripe i have. nades have huge range due to sprint glitch, i think they’re perfect other than the pulse nade

if you make them stronger, ppl are just gonna run resupply/explosives and just nade spam instead of shooting

the pulse grenade is such a joke. I dont even know what they were thinking when they put that in. It has literally no point or tactical advantage…

I totally agree against Covenant the grenades seem mildly useless but tbh in MM i think there great

I never had problems moving away from Reach’s grenades. I felt they were balanced; the fuse wasn’t so short that I didn’t have time move yet not long enough to make them useless. I died by them plenty of times, but they were deserved because I was stupid enough to not pay attention to my surroundings.

Ok, so a nerf on H4s grenades I can put up with, but grenades are practicallyy useless in H4

explosives upgrade in your loadout selection. enables enhanced explosive damage, and resistance.

also, grenades in legendary are just rocks. but i didnt see it as much of a problem unless using pulse grenades.

grenades are very effective in MP if used right. dont see a issue. i see a issue with the SAW LMG more then i do any other gun.

Um…grenades in Halo 4 are good as support weaponry…like they should be.
They’re strong enough to support an attack/defense, but not so strong that they become the primary go-to weapon of choice (like they did in Reach).

Besides, the Explosives Support Package makes them noticeably more powerful, along with reducing the effects of grenades etc on yourself. I use this for CQC-style modes, like KoTH. If you’re someone who definitely wants mo’ powa! in their grenades, be sure to use it.

I remember back in the bungie days people complained about how the gernades were spamable and mini nukes, now people are saying the gernades are too weak and less abundant.

I’d much rather have my grenades be “too weak” like in Halo 4 than mini nukes like in Halo Reach. The nades are fine, leave them alone. My only issue is when I sticky a Warthog it doesn’t blow it up anymore. Meh, I throw two everytime now. Thank god they nerfed those ridiculous Reach nades.

grenades are almost useless in this game , i prefer Reach’s grenades

i had no complain for the grenades until i went for todays CTF challenge. I stuck a hog grenade blew and it just kept driving :O, i dont want an automatic double kill but at least flip the vehicle

Well, I spent some time by myself on a map, and threw a grenade right under my feet. I think the biggest problem is that the grenades don’t have a killzone. I guess canonically it would make sense that a spartan in full armor would be able to survive a direct grenade explosion, but for the sake of gameplay…
