Damn lol. First it sells less than Halo 3 and Halo:Reach, and now it’s already getting a price drop?
Wonder how much money Halo 4 even made them when they get rid of all the marketing/development price. Halo 3 cost $60 overall, and according to Microsoft Halo 4 cost them more than any other first party game so far, so I’m guessing Halo 4 cost 100 million overall. So far the game has made 220 million according to Day One Sales, so It’s probably at $300 million now. Microsoft probably made less with Halo 4 than they wanted. Straight bomba.
thats just amazon. at any retail store the game is still full price. there is no way in hell they would approve a price cut before the holiday season is over.

Halo 4 outsold both previous games and made new franchise record for most games sold on launch day 3.7 million games totaling day one sales at 220 million like you said however it outsold both reach and halo 3. It made over 300 million on its opening week, its been out for a month and is still selling not matter what people thing, its making profit.
Amazon always gives deals gamestop, and almost all other retailers will most likely retain their price.

No. Halo 4 only sold 3.2 million. It SHIPPED 4 million which is different to selling. Check the NPD. Halo 4 sold less than Halo 3 and Halo:Reach, even though it had more days. Halo 4 just bombed compared to Halo 3 and Reach.
Also, Target, Microcenter, and Kmart all dropped the price to $40 as well.

You do know that halo 3 made 170 million launch day, Reach 200 million launch day, and that all 3 games cost 59.99 at the time. I was giving you the rough estimate of total sales. Either way Halo 4 made more money then both games on launch day, and is still number 2 in sales charts according to the NPD. Halo 3 sold 3.3 FOR THE FIRST 12 DAYS including and after September 25th its release date not day one sales according to NPD. Anybody should be able to understand that it would be impossible for Reach which made 200 million to sell more copies then halo 4 which made 220 million.
You also have to understand that everyone knew that holiday sales were coming and target and amazon were already said they had great deals coming. NPD said it is a horrible years for game sales. Game consoles are on there last leg and price cuts are flying everywhere this holiday season.
Hooray! Now my friends who couldn’t afford the game at release can probably get it.
ME3’s price dropped even faster, and it’s done well in spite of the ending issue (which has since been largely resolved thanks to the extended cut DLC).
I think everyone here is misunderstanding how retail works, it’s common practice to drop the price of lots of premium items across the board during large selling periods in order to sell more at peak times, the retailers are still making profit on the game, Microsoft already has the money for the shipped copies so no one is loosing out even slightly and it dosnt reflect poorly on the game at all.
As someone has already pointed out, the game is still priced full price at many retailers here in the UK which probably means that Microsoft game studios who, despite what I just said do retain control of how their product is sold, have approved a sale in select US and online retailers.
Nothing on how to do with the way the game is selling or how popular it is, just simple retail politics.
asda still sells it for £40.00, and seeing as they’re the cheapest supermarket in the uk i would of thought it would of had a price cut. this is just amazon, they have some pretty good deals
