It’s time for everyone to be honest with themselves… Would you play Halo 4 if it wasn’t called “Halo” or set in the Halo universe?
Halo 4, by any standard of measurement, is not a “Halo” game. Sure, we have Master Chief and other Halo characters, but when it comes down to gameplay, there is nothing “Halo” about Halo 4.
I know, I know… Halo is different now, we’ve moved on from the old Halo… But have you thought about what that actually means? Maybe there are people out there that wanted to keep playing Halo, and not some crappy, pseudo-new gen “come one! come all!” FPS that makes you wonder why there are so many different games in the first place. They’re all so similar…
There was a time when you had CoD players and Halo players. Each game had specific characteristics that attracted a certain crowd and created loyal fans. This doesn’t exist anymore. The line between a CoD player and Halo player are so blurred, it’s hard to say why one game is better than the other or what makes Halo different than CoD. Oh, right, kill times in Halo are longer. Got it.
We have taken Halo for granted. Halo used to be a game where the “best man wins” could be depended on and flaunted. Had a 50? You earned it. Won the 1v1 shoot-out? Earned it. Got that steak? Earned it. The risk vs. reward aspect of Halo was an integral part of what made Halo “Halo” and what made Halo that competitive game you either raged at or loved. Games used to be rewarding.
Be honest with yourself… Would you play Halo 4 it it wasn’t called “Halo” or set in the Halo universe? I wouldn’t…
This is an excellent point… I don’t honestly know. I like the game and all but I don’t even think I’d know about it if it wasn’t a Halo game. I think the story is excellent. The multiplayer has always been a secondary thing to me though.
Yes I would play it. This game is leaps and bounds better than reach. You can still play certain playlists like slayer pro if you don’t like the cod style play. It’s faster, strafing actually works and yes… The best shot wins. Sure it needs some things addressed but give it time.
Well it’s not the same style of gameplay but it is different and that is what i like with games that they dare to try something new or borrow it from other games and such it has some down sides but still i like the game so far not really dissapointed with it at all. And yes i would play it or try it out.
No i wouldn’t. Not even the slightest chance in hl i would play this piece of st game they call “Halo”
But am i still playing it? Yes.
Because it’s Halo.
The game is complete trash. Why would I play it?
I play Halo games and most of my games (StarCraft,Dawn of War,Mass Effect,Dragon Age,Deus Ex and the list goes on) first and foremost because of the lore and the story attached to it. Not the gameplay, not the multiplayer, not the rank, not the armor customization, not the Forge, not the Theater.
So I’m not that mad over any of the new feature in Halo 4. It still play great.
If “Halo 4” was call lets say “Space Wars” with no detail or effort put in creating a compelling universe I would certainly never play this game. However if the developer had put effort in creating such universe I would have played it regardless if it’s Halo or not since I am not attached to only one franchise and continuously find new jewel to add to my hundred of games.

This is what I would expect from someone being truly honest with themselves and has followed Halo from day one.
I only bought the game because I was excited to see what 343 did to make the Halo universe feel new. I like the multiplayer a little bit, it’s fun and different, but to answer your question, no I would not play this if it wasn’t called Halo. To me it does not feel like Halo in any way.
The campaign was pretty suckish imo, 343 messed the characters up and it was short, boring, and all you seemed to do was press buttons to activate/deactivate something, or insert your Cortana chip someplace.
Multiplayer is decent enough and I enjoy it, but not as a Halo game and I doubt if I will buy any “Halo” title 343 releases ever again (unless they do a Halo 2 remake)
I would yeah. It’s a great game. Maybe you should stop judging it on what you define as “halo” and judge it on it’s merits. Plus you’re one guy, games arent made for 1 guy get over yourself. if you dont like it H3 still exists as does Reach. Stop whining like a baby just coz 343 didnt make u a personal game you bellsniff
Being 100% honest? It says halo on the box. And it feels like the halo i have been playing all these years. Sure it might look a little different and it has some new things. But she’s still the same girl i grew to love back in 2001.

You’re completely missing the point… I enjoy having different games to choose to play, not some mish-mash of an FPS that plays just like every other FPS out there.
If you think Halo is headed in the “right” direction, you may as well cover your eyes, pick a game to play, and tell us how “awesome” it is. There’s no difference.
Yes. Now be honest with yourself, if you dont like it why are you not playing something else?
Personally, I love the game.

I am playing something else.
However, that doesn’t stop me from defending something that I know and love. It’s extremely disappointing to not only see the new Halo fanboys on here, but to see everyone accepting what’s happening to gaming these days…
343 has turned Halo into a marketing giant that can’t offer anyone anything of substance. People are loving this crap for some reason (hence, CoD’s rousing success. Although, I will hand it to CoD, that at least stay loyal to their core gameplay mechanics).
Yes, I would.
I find it fun, fast paced, addicting. Certain points I found frustrating, but this is why we have forums.
Halo 4 plays most like Halo CE because of the DMR being very similar to the pistol. I don’t know what could be more Halo like.
let me offer a slightly different view on this matter.
would I be playing halo 4 if it wasnt called halo? probably
would I have bought it? NO
what I mean by this is that if I had known how vastly different it was (if not worse) from the previous halo`s then I would have NEVER invested 60 bucks into it, but would I have played it despite it being well dare I say not halo? yes, and that is what I will be doing months ahead.
