Halo 4 game type fixes

HALO 4 CUSTOM GAME TYPES

This is my first topic/forum post of any kind. I just wanted to get that out of the way first thing. Secondly, I understand that there are several other discussions about Halo 4’s game types and options (In fact I just saw one that had over 90 pages) That’s why I’m creating this new topic.

Now to my point. Halo has, since its creation, been one of my favorite games. I love to play Halo (The only one I severely disliked was Halo Wars). And as fun, and awesome as the Campaign has been on each installment, What kept me playing, and enjoying Halo, were the custom games. My brother and I have created a multitude of competitive, ridiculous, fun, and interesting game types in Halo 3, and Reach -We don’t own Halo 2- Yet, almost every game type we’ve attempted to create in Halo 4 has epically failed, including remakes of our Halo 3/Reach games.

I would like to offer some suggestions, and hope that 343 i will consider them for future title updates, or if nothing else, for use in Halo 5. So here’s my list of general, and specific game type option changes, that I believe would improve the playing power, and longevity of Halo 4

GENERAL:
-Bring back the game types Race, Headhunter, and Invasion, and allow options supported in Halo 3, and/or Reach for each of these games.
-Make team emblems customizable (like personal emblems).
-Bring back options for all game types that were previously available in Halo3/Reach.
-Create an option to disable sprint, or even better, create an option to choose a base armor ability, which would include none.
-Bring back custom power ups (placed in forge, and edited in the game options)
-Create option to disable instant respawn/respawn quicker.
-Create infinite/regenerating grenades option.
-Create options to modify armor abilities effectiveness (like having decent active camo i.e. Halo Reach/Halo 4, or awesome camo like in Halo 3. But of course all of the armor abilities would be included.)
-Create option to name game load outs in the same manner you can name personal load outs (with the keyboard).
-Create option to name teams.
-Add load out specific player traits.
-Add team specific player traits, and/or make player trait zones team specific.
-Make the Flood skin (minus the claw arm) available in other game types.
-Add all team colors to appearance options.
-Add white, and brown team.
-Fix options for File-share.

Oddball
-There is an option to gain points by killing the ball holder, but it doesn’t work.
-Make it where you can get points for killing the ball holder.

Capture the Flag
-Allow neutral, and one flag options.
-Allow options to recreate Stockpile.

King of the Hill
-Allow options to recreate territories.

Regicide
-Allow options to recreate Juggernaut, and VIP.
-Create options to allow an attacker team (without king), and a defender team (with king), and create player trait options for each team.

Flood
-Create option for the flood not to use the flood model.
-Create option for the flood model to not have the claw, to allow editable load outs.
-Allow editable load outs for the flood.
-Allow options to recreate Infection.

Maps
-Release bigger maps, similar to Forge World.
-Allow structures, dominion objects, and natural objects to be placed in all maps.

This is everything I could think of off the top of my head, though there may be other issues I find later. If there are I will add them to the list. Halo 4 is really a great game, but it has the potential to be so much better. I hope that you agree, and I hope that 343 takes notice of the growing number of fans who aren’t satisfied with Halo 4’s custom game options. 343 Has done an amazing job of taking over for Bungie, and their extremely hard work has paid off, for the most part. But this lack of customization in Halo 4 could cause a lot of fans to leave. They need to fix these problems quickly, or they could lose a big chunk of fan base.

Thanks for reading, please comment with your opinions of Halo 4’s game options, and your opinions of my ideas. And spread the word. We need 343 to notice, and do something about this.

I completely agree. I love the idea of replacing sprint with other armor abilities, thus allowing you to posses two armor abilities, but I would also like to see:

  • The ability to edit the traits of individual teams and/or players. For example, if you have Team Slayer, and wanted Blue team to have unlimited ammo while Red team had a higher jump height, you could do that. Or, if you wanted to do something similar in an FFA gametype, you could do so.

  • The addition of weapon and armor ability traits. Being able to literally change the traits of individual weapons and/or armor abilities, and even choosing which weapons were available to certain teams and/or players. For example, if I wanted to have all guns be the same, except that the SAW would have bottomless clip and the auto sentry to do more damage, I could do so.

  • The return of zooming and fine-editing to forge.

  • Either one of the future DLC to have a space which not only included all the pieces, but was designed with more advanced forgers in mind (In other words, Lots of empty terrain which BTB forgers could make great use of, something which Ravine, Erosion, and Impact don’t really provide much of.)

  • The fixing of flood mode. (I know this was kinda already mentioned, but for specifics: Flood Weapon and Armor Ability customization. Flood loadout customization, Flood and Survivor outward appearance customization (namely color), and any other options which were in Halo 3 and Halo Reach.)

  • The addition of the mammoth (or elephant) and a human flying vehicle either to a pre-existing forge canvas or a possible future one via DLC, simply because the community would jump on these features and you already have them in the game. (For example, the Broadsword being added to Impact, if that wasn’t a given in the first place.)

These additions may be more of a stretch, but it’s not like I’m the first to ask for them. I’m loving 343 thus far, but my only issue with them compared to Bungie, was that Bungie always seemed to give it all to us, just for the heck of it, knowing somebody would eventually use it. 343, on the other hand, seems a bit more restrictive and limiting based on overall use. (Such as adding and removing multiplayer playlists based on players in those playlists, which could mean taking out a group of people’s favorite gametype for no good reason at all.)

I agree, I would love if 343 gave such in depth customization as weapon and armor ability editing, but that might be pushing it. On the other hand, it would be absolutely amazing, and feasible for them to add customization (including movement, shields & health, weapons & damage, etc.) for teams, and even specific load outs. If they added these elements, and the ability to have different objectives for teams/load outs, Halo 4 would be so much better.

Just imagine this game type:
Team 1 (with custom name, same as you personal load out renaming)
-Load out 1 (also w/ custom name)
-Objective: Capture the flag
-greater movement speed & jump, but lower damage and health
-This guys goal is to get the flag and that’s it, he’s a runner.
-Load out 2
-Objective: Slayer
-greater shielding and damage, but slower. Has assault/heavy weapons
-He just runs around killing people, gaining the team points.
-Load out 3
-Objective: Grifball (but more like Assault)
-When he has the ball he’s almost invulnerable but he’s really slow.
-He would score the team extra points, or perhaps just runs around melee-ing
-Load out 4
-Objective: Infection(not flood)
-a bit faster with greater damage, but low health and no shields.
-turns people to his side.
-Load out 5
-Objective: Regicide
-while the king, he’s quick and invisible, like a ninja.
-This guy would rack up team points, and be deadly swift while doing so, but also give more points to the enemy if taken down.

Then there’s Team 1
-all of their load outs are the same, or at least regarding physical ability, they might have different weapons still
-And they’re all playing CTF on the defense.

Needless to say this would get hectic, but not every game type would need to incorporate all of the customization that the game would provide. I think in depth customization of everything, down to the very core of each game type would be purely amazing, and the things invented in this way, would be innumerable, and unfathomable. IT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

Please 343, LOOK AT THIS!!! At least do something like this in Halo 5! You would truly have the best video game in history, ever!
