Halo 4 Forge World Textures/Layouts

like halo reach i’d expect a halo 4 forge world to be split into sections however many of the forging sections were not used/rarely used so i decided to put together a list of all the important parts of forge world and add my own ideas to make what could be a possible forge world.

Re-used:
-Colosseum
-quarry
-montana
-canyon
-coastline
-cave between coastline and canyon

New:
lake with archipelago of small islands surrounding it
(this would be better than the big island because people only use sections of it and it would be better if they just made several small islands instead of a single large one)
-plateau
(it would be cool to have a map overlooking a hillside perhaps above the quarry, i personally think this would replace the stack)
-plains
(instead of the Alaska area i think it would be better to have a large, flat plain overlooking the canyon, basically a larger quarry of just pure grass)
-forest
(a forest with a road running through it and a small area in the middle with no trees, i’m thinking something like ridgeline)

all of this would be inside a geo dome which goes out to space, space would have 2 sections available for forging, one of them being a barren space with lots of forging space but no gravity, the other would be a moon crater which can be accessed by a teleporter with a dome over it allowing players to forge in a space atmosphere with gravity and land.

i think if we had this we could make a much better forge world without terrain editors because thers something for everyone, perhaps bring back some of the objects from halo 3 too like the computers, the radio and the dumpsters and of course the forklift, imagine forging a forklift on the moon? anyways theres plenty of time to think about a terrain editor people, perhaps in halo 6. and if theres no forge world in halo 4 perhaps in halo 5 something simalar to this idea could be made because halo reach’s forge world is badly structured, it needs more depth than length and more flat areas.

what do people think about this as a realistic idea for a halo 4 forge world? i mean my ideas could be limitless but due to the disk space i think it’s best that they just re-arrange and add new areas in place of others.

(bad grammar and spelling i know i cba)

I would rather a map editor the likes of Bethesda’s GECK, heck I’d even buy it as a separate release if that’s what it took.

I’d rather each and every map be have it’s own unique forge palette than another forgeworld/sandbox/foundry

> I would rather a map editor the likes of Bethesda’s GECK, heck I’d even buy it as a separate release if that’s what it took.

i don’t think it would be necessary halo reach already has good forge tools, they just need revamping a bit for extra precision, back in halo 3 i thought a map editor would be easier but forge 2.0 seems easier than that of a map editor and is more simple to use, it just needs more objects and backdrops and a better layout, i mean forge world is just a long line of cliffs with a few patches of ridged land on them and not many flat areas, most forge maps are forged in mid air. the problem with the map editor idea is thta it would create alot of problems in game and alot of pop up lagg with some maps i think it’s best that theres something for everyone and perhaps a landmass pallet where you can forge landmasses with grass, snow, sand and rock instead of just rock. perhaps an editor would be more fitting in halo 5 when the next xbox is more powerful.

> I’d rather each and every map be have it’s own unique forge palette than another forgeworld/sandbox/foundry

the problem is that most maps have a low skybox, look at the anniversarry map pack for example, the skybox’s are too low to forge original maps, i think forge world is the answer, that way we have plenty of space to forge, thats not to say they can’t put a unique palette in each map though.

Leave forge as is, but I would buy a map editor to use on a pc any day of the week, legitimate snap tools, lighting tools and all the world objects, the ability to build a map from the ground up would be great. After having used the GECK extensively anything less feels stunted

I completely agree.

An editor is the next logical step, and serious forgers will LOVE the idea

if we want a good editor then it’s best we wait till halo 6 then they will have time to implement it well and make it simple for novice forgers, not everyone can use map editors well, they need to be simplified

No to forge world. All you need is a flat, large, open space. From there it’s all about the item selection and budget you’ve got. Not how pretty the map is.

Trials Evolution has an editor which uses a fairly basic scripting language, and you can basically program your own game with it. Yet people are using that with no problem at all. Forge is dumbed down way too much as it is. Just look at any other editor out there. Forge is easily one of the simplest of the lot.

Forge was a great tool when it was new, at this point it’s time to take the next step in the evolution of allowing people to edit the game, even if it had to be done on pc then transferred to the Xbox. People have been doing this to fallout with no problem at all for quite some time even porting over entirely new dlc sized play areas and missions long after the dlc stopped rolling out. A map editor isn’t as much about making new maps for mp as much as it is giving the game the ability to be timeless in its own right.
