Halo 4 forge textures.

I think it would have been nice if there were themes for forge items.
Just simple textures that are different colours and stuff.

That way, there would be less people who don’t want forge maps in MP, because personally I love Forge maps in MP. It means we get to play new maps regularly without dishing out money to Microsoft every few months.

so yeah, if they had like a ‘Stone’ theme, all forge item textures would be changed to a stone-like colour and feel.
Or ‘metal’, which would be default forge.
‘Covenant’, which would be sort of Midship style metals. Purples and blues and stuff.
‘Human’ Which would be like stone, but warmer colours like Turf.

Etc etc. They could even release new DLC texture packs which could be cheaper, add new items and allow our MP maps to evolve regularly without becoming an eyesore.

EDIT: I’m not the best at explaining, so here’s a cut down version for those that don’t like reading or found my post too confusing.
When entering a forge mode, you select a style. It will auto-transfer all default items already on the map to the new texture and any items placed after to the new texture. When saved it saved the texture, allowing for more varied forms of forge maps.

Exactly. Anything but grey. And good mapmakers are always prepared to go the extra mile.

It would work well for infection maps.

Also I’m prepared for ‘but the textures are already so highly detailed that they’re taking up all the room on the disc’ rebutes.

There’s no reason this couldn’t be DLC. Not exactly pay, but if you aren’t retexturing the entire map, just the forged items, you could get a lot of texture themes in a 2gig download.
considering the MP will already be 8gig, it really isn’t that much more in comparison.

I know it is a big change, but I think it’s worth thinking about, because textures are something that are patchable, meaning this can still be implemented even though the game has gone gold. It’s a better use of our time as fans to talk about things that are changeable than things that aren’t (such as gameplay mechanics and campaign plot.
