Halo 4 forge ranks.

Here’s what i have in mind.
Everytime someone downloads one of you’r maps you will get 1xp everytime someone likes a map you get 4xp.
This xp would go towards you’r forge rank which would be completely separate from you’r competitive rank.
So for getting say 1 million forge xp you would become a master builder and that rank would appear on you’r gamercard and here on waypoint.
Maybe even add rewards for leveling up like new objects and scenery one idea i have is a energy sword re-skinned to look like a katana.
What do you guys think?

So you started your own topic.

It’s not a bad idea, it’s just what sort of perks would come with having forge ranks?
Perks meaning like in reach were you could buy armor, you know that sort of thing.

Hmm I like the idea but it could easily be boosted, however it wouldn’t really have a great impact on the game.

To stop it from being boosted if someone who has already downloaded it downloads the map again, then you wouldn’t get XP for it the second time.

That’s a good idea, I should have thought of that

simple experienced builders would get recognition for skill and unexperienced builder would not.

The only diffrence between this and Koolaidmans idea is this couldn’t be boosted for better armor or higher ranked ranks.

Also it provides a sense of acomplishment for experienced builders.

Why on earth would you need forge ranks?

Total downloads/likes does not equal quality content so it’s impossible to have meaning behind forge ranks which is utterly pointless.
If you make a truly decent map it will get a decent amount of views on youtube and shared around, players will play it customs, content will be uploaded and various other advertisement. You don’t need ranks.

All ranks will do is provide some idea of the quality of certain players content say someone with 50000 total likes would probably have better content then people with 2.

The ranks would also offer a sort of reward for talented builders.

It’s a good idea but you will end up getting thousands of messages from recent players begging you to download their maps.

I have to give you that. I’m going to work out a way that will make all this work and not blowup in our faces.

Unlocks emblem and skin to show your Forging might. Nice for Forgers, yet not much incentive for boosters. Aside from belittlement.

> It’s a good idea but you will end up getting thousands of messages from recent players begging you to download their maps.

I’m shuddering at the thought.

Key word probably which has huge bias behind it as more often than not maps with “1 million credits” or various lude drawings of anime girls get drawn with weapons which get a lot of downloads or likes.

Were as the forger that constantly maintains their map by updating it therefore resetting the download count doesn’t get a fraction of that above. It’s just a flawed concept that is far too easily abused.

As I said above “ranks” might be gratification for some but it’s pointless as it doesn’t represent quality no point in having something just to make people “feel” better. If a forger knows what they’re doing they will be a part of various forging groups, involved in testing and that’s where true gratification will come from.

You know what, your right.

It would be like the vidmasters all over again.

I like the idea. People with high forge ranks will probably have better maps. The names would probably be awesome to, having the rank “Master Builder” would make anyone feel awesome.

That alone is reason enough not to want this idea.

Ranked would mean you did something to earn it. Spamming thousands of messages to players to download a map made out of one object (or nothing) isn’t something that should be rewarded. Another good idea on paper but when executed, it would just fall apart too easily.

Building a cool, new map for players to play (or admire) should be a reward in itself. Not some shiny new rank that means little beyond extending e peen.

too much boosting would occur.

and you heard frankie, no boosting.

Who even downloads maps or does anything people like that asks?
All i do is block report and move on.

Players download maps all the time in Reach. We even have a clunky/semi- non useful search system for that.

If there was ranked for Forge and the only way to increase it is by downloading maps, players would spam the hell out of everyone just to increase it (doubly so if it means something).

I seriously doubt anyone wants to block randoms spamming “heY GuyZzz!!>?! DowNloAd mAhh mApz Plz?” on a daily basis. Better to play the game and headshot randoms than spend time doing that.

sounds pretty sweet
