Has any one else seen the new forge maps? There are 3 of them. My question is, is it just me or are these maps way smaller than they should/could be? I like making a map with bases on each side of old forge world and building towers along the way to help and capture, but these maps look like there too small. Anyone else feel that way? Also are they going to bring back forge world from reach? Are we/Am I going to have to switch disks to play our maps from halo reach?
It’s not just you but you and “you’re kind” are crazy. The maps are much, much larger than you think they are (but no, not Forge World sized, about Hemmorhage+Paradisio in 1 size for all 3, much, much larger considering skyboxes.)
they did look a little small, but that may have just been the camera.
Maybe. But I can see the majority of the maps in Eroison, as that seems to be the largest forge map.
The Forge maps aren’t small to anyone with knowledge of how to turn terrain to their advantage and adapt to it. However, I can see how someone who puts bases on either side of a vast, premade area might think they’re too small.
You’re almost certainly not going to be able to play Reach forge maps in Halo 4 unless they’re remade in the new editor, and I severely doubt they’re bringing Forge World back unless it’s in a DLC, and even then it would be less grandiose.

this is very observant of you, and i appreciate people like you who can see the true size of maps.also, in ravine, the huge crevice in the middle can be built inside of
Depends on your taste. Do you actually use ALL of Forge World to create a map?
Even with the scale of the Forge maps being reduced, the sky boxes are still big in size. If you really are using the length of the map, you can forge in some floors to extend it.
I thought they looked really big personally… lol.
You can easily make a BTB map on any of the forge maps available. Easier done on Ravine or Impact though.
> Are we/Am I going to have to switch disks to play our maps from halo reach?
You can’t play Reach maps in Halo 4.
That card was never even in the pack, let alone on the table.
Well this all sounds reassuring, but im sad that maps will need remade and old forge is not there
I think the size seems fine, especially the size and freedom we have with the sky boxes.

but imagine all the new things you could add to your “old maps” and how much faster you could build them (magnets, dupe, lock, etc.)
if you want reach’s forge then go play reach, i too will likely keep forging on reach’s forge world when halo 4 is out.
Obviously, the maps on their own are smaller then Forge World, but all 3 combined should be a lot bigger.
Forge World was too big anyway. When you play on a Forge map, you’re using usually only 10% of it. This is better.
And for giant maps, just use the entirety of the map, it should be big enough
For slayer, these maps are a perfect size even giving people a lot of opportunities for BTB. If you speak on a different standpoint, say, racetracks then I could see how you’d be concerned about the map size. I don’t think we’ll see the behemoth skytracks that were created in Reach, but if you ask me those got boring anyway. In fact, some Reach skytracks were so expansive, Battle Snipes barely worked on them.
Having some smaller maps will help Forge in more ways than one giant one. It would be really fantastic to see a DLC pack solely consisting of Forge maps in Halo 4, too. Though, that would probably fall in the category of “Hopes and Dreams.”
Basically, how often does anyone make a map that spans all of Forge World?
It’s the capability of the pallete, not the map size.
They are smaller than Forge World, yes, but they are likely going to be bigger than you think. There’s a lot of forge-able space away from the terrain and landmarks that you can mess around with.
