I believe the “infinity” aspect of the game is what they are calling the entire multilayer part of the game. The virtual reality they speak of is the “story” the implemented into matchmaking. We finally have a answer why red is in a constant struggle against blue.

I personally always liked the idea of being a monitor and building things on my halo ring, just seemed so… grand (for lack of a better word)

forge = holodeck. imho likely, but what does it mean? more, but smaller forgeworlds/“backgrounds”?
Does this mean a proper sandbox map creator with skybox customization, terrain editing, weather and light controls, ambient sounds, water customization, and more? 
exactly!!! red vs blue normaly happens on custom maps too. and holodeck is im assuming not small. and if it supports multiplayer and EVERY environment i assume forge will be this. i dont think they intended it to slip out but it may have

That sure as hell is what I’m hoping for. I’m betting more though that there will still be preset maps to choose to forge from, rather than being able to forge the terrain yourself.
If there was a terrain editor, that alone would make Halo 4 a must purchase for many fans.
