Map Description: ROMEO Station is a three-month-long effort to make an ‘arena’ setting that would be both fun and fast-paced. ROMEO itself was designed to be a sort of ‘shipping’ area, or cargo loading bay, using a zero-gravity environment to its advantage in the loading of dangerous or delicate fuels and materials. Lo’ and behold, there’s an accident. Something goes ‘boom’, and now the entire back-end of the station has been blown out. Seizing upon the opportunity to get some use out of the now-defunct facility, ROMEO has been requisitioned for use as a training arena.
ROMEO is sized for a game as large as eight players, and small enough for decisive two-on-two showdowns. Free-for-all is of course supported, and a tight selection of random weapons is intended to provide a balance between a consistent and fun experience. Geared more for casual players, ROMEO Station has spacious areas and hallways fit for long-range combat, tight corners for close range engagements, and unique areas intended to control the map from, but are simple enough to just walk or jump into. Movement is simple in that the hardest two jumps simply involve crouching during the jump, and multiple ways to access the upper levels are afforded to players who simply wish to walk.
I’m hoping that you all will have an experience on this map, good or bad, that can help all of us here see either what to do or what not to do with designing a map. Good hunting!
