Halo 4| Forerunner level music

I’ve been entranced by the music heard in the third level of Halo 4: Forerunner. I was wondering if anyone knew where I can find it in the officially released OST, or if it is currently an unreleased track.

Any definitive help will be greatly appreciated.

This?

Aliens, Escape, Pylons, Revival, and Kantele Bow are the tracks that play during Forerunner.

Absolutely fantastic tracks, all of them!

Kantele? That’s an old Finnish instrument. The wise old man Väinämöinen, crafted a kantele from the jawbones of a great pike he slew in the Finnish national epic Kalevala  nice to see they still keep some mythology names in the games. If it is a reference to it.
edit: Maybe not an “all Finnish” instrument but kantele is the name for it here.

Oh yeah, there’s a boat load of mythological references present in Halo 4 - both in the campaign and Spartan Ops.

That’s some cool trivia there, wasn’t aware of that. Apparently, most of the instruments used to compose Halo 4’s OST were made in 1650-1700 in rural Italy which I find really interesting. These instruments have been around for centuries and are being used today to score the soundtrack of one of our own modern epics.

Wow, didn’t know they used that old instruments to play the OST.
I’m Finnish so kantele caught my eye instantly, I also had one when I was a kid. Never learned how to play it but I liked the sound it made.
I have not noticed that much mythology references yet in Halo 4, I think. At least I don’t remember any at the moment. Maybe I have noticed them. Or some of them.

Greg Bear said that Greek tragedies were a big inspiration for the Forerunner Saga, particularly where the Ur-Didact’s character arc is concerned. There are several allusions and mentions of the tale of Prometheus in the campaign and Spartan Ops - this is part of a thematic arc in the story a friend and I have dubbed the ‘God Loop’ which I talk about here. There’s the map Ragnarok which references Norse mythology, like Valhalla did in Halo 3. John’s character arc is very much akin to the epic of Giglamesh - this thread has most of the details.

I’m sure there’s other references too, but those are the major ones I can think of off the top of my head.

There is a ship that was present during the Human-Covenant war called the “Archimedes”, if that counts for anything.

Nice. Yes Ragnarok is the most obvious reference in Halo 4. Mjolnir, Gungnir and many other Norse and Greek names are pretty often brought up in halo.
