HALO 4 FLIGHT - FEEDBACK THREAD

It would be greatly appreciated if we could change the gun sounds for the Halo 4 Br. It is not the best sound in the world.

Area of feedback: General / game settings
Feedback: I started the campaign and by default there are some new key inputs that are unassigned. I check them out and they are of no concern to me (like some keys related to the Forge). But now I cant change any of the settings and save them unless I also assign all those missing keys.
I tried changing my FPS limit and graphic settings, clicked ‘Apply all’ and then tried to return to game. But the only options I get (due to unassigned keys) are “Discard all changes” or “Return to settings”. Make it possible to change & save changes in a certain are of settings spesifically.

Area of feedback: Unlockables
Feedback: I still can’t unlock more than one unlockable at once. Make it possible that I can spend multiple points at once and then select “unlock”. Without the need to unlock everything one at a time.

There needs to be more graphics options. I do not like the fact the new graphics options do not change much, since you are now just changing one by one what is affected by the presets. If 343 is trying to scale these games to run well on both low end and high end PCs, then there needs to be more graphics options.
I feel like this should be what the games have instead:
Texture Quality: Very Low, Low, Normal, High, Very High (Why are there no texture quality settings? This will help the most with low end PCs since it will save on VRAM and will also make the games shine on higher end PCs)
Texture Filtering: Off, 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x (No more low, medium, and high. High is still very weak and forcing AF through drivers is still superior)
Anti-aliasing: FXAA Low, FXAA High, SMAA, MSAA 2x, 4x, 8x (MSAA if possible; An unspecified anti-aliasing method with a simple on and off toggle just does not cut it)
Level of Detail: Very Low, Low, Normal, High, Very High, Ultra (There is still a noticeable amount of pop in with the current high setting. Let us see a lot more detail than already possible! Plus, let LODs affect characters too!)
Shadow Quality: Off (wherever reasonable), Very Low, Low, Normal, High, Very High, Ultra (Shadow quality does not do much right now. Low just turns off character shadows, Normal is regular shadows, and high is slightly higher quality shadows. Off should disable all shadows where applicable, like dynamic shadows, very low could be very pixelated 256x256, low would be 512x512, normal is 1024x1024, high is 2048x2048, very high 4096x4096, and ultra 8192x8192)
If the Effects Quality option affects multiple effects at once, this should be changed to allow for separate options for each effect, like for example:
Depth of Field: On/Off
Bloom: On/Off
Motion Blur: On/Off
Particle Quality: Very Low, Low, Normal, High, Very High, Ultra
Film Grain (especially for ODST): On/Off
There might be more I missed
Bullet Decals: Off, Very Low, Low, Normal, High, Very High, Ultra (Client side option that affects how many bullet holes are on screen before despawning)
Corpse Limit (This is a helpful option like in Payday 2, a client side option that affects how many corpses stay in game before they begin to despawn): Off (As soon as an enemy dies they despawn), Small, Normal, Large, Insane
Foliage: On/Off (Grass toggle)
Ambient Occlusion (when applicable): Off, Low, Medium, High
Blood: On/Off (Apparently currently broken in flight, but a nice feature nonetheless)
Experimental settings:
60fps Cutscenes (in Halo CEA and 2 Classic): On/Off
Letterboxing in Cutscenes (Where applicable): On/Off
Restore CE Visuals (Experimental in case they are buggy): On/Off
I’m expecting way too much I know lol, but I am very disappointed with the current options given to us. I really wanted to see how nice Halo looks cranked up at max, but so far the results have been underwhelming

Oh and forgot to say, lighting quality is fine right now, but I do not see any difference in water quality no matter the setting

Just curious as to why DLC armor like ricochet, ODST, and Marv v still haven’t been added to the game.

Area of feedback: Visual - Campaign/Spartan Ops
Feedback: I played some Campaign and Spartan Ops missions and one thing that immediately caught my attention was the great amount of low res textures. I am playing on the enhanced graphics option and just tried to max everything out.
Those textures seem to be especially noticeable on vehicles like the Warthog and Pelican.
At this point, I am not sure if those are just the original textures and are supposed to look like this, but some did look super low res, so I thought it could either be a bug or those textures have simply not been enhanced from their original xbox 360 resolution.
Either way, it looks really bad at 1440p.

Armor selection UI in Halo 4 is a bit messy. There should be clearer indication that certain options open up a sub-menu, e.g. that the Air Assault option contains three different variants. Some variants should also be consolidated under one heading, such as Recruit Prime being a variant of Recruit rather than a separate option entirely.

One last thing, there should be more FPS cap options. It should go: 30, 50, 60, 75, 90, 120, 144, 165, 180, 200, 240, Unlimited

Well, I’ve been signed up for insider since last year, and I didn’t get an invite to this flight. Yes I’ve checked my emails and waypoint directly, and no I don’t have any other accounts.
Insider is still active on my profile and I’ve not been banned from Retail MCC or been disqualified from previous flights.
I’ve been in every one since CE and no invite to this one.

You can set the framerate limit in Settings > Video > Framerate Limit.

You can also disable the V-Sync there, as well as changing the graphics options right at the end of the Settings > Video menu.

Area of game: Multiplayer feedback
Feedback: On ONLY pitfall in team snipers (I haven’t played the other game modes to test this, I have played haven/skyline and do not get the bugs on those maps as far as I can tell), I get a number of bugs. The first and most noticeable is that the announcer immediately says “GAME OVER” upon loading into the game. The second is that the chat for killing a player is often outright wrong. I’ll get either “The flood wins!” or absolutely nothing in the kill feed when I kill a player. The last bug that I noticed is that there does not seem to be any medals aside from Multikills and a few other medals showing up (such as distraction and assist) but never any other medals. I have yet to see a sniper kill medal on pitfall team snipers.

This last part is not a bug but feedback on the maps, please consider removing skyline from the H4 team snipers map pool, the map has way too many corners and not enough angles for it to be fun in a team snipers match and will usually turn into a corner camping lobby.

Another thing is please consider not flipping the spawns at least on pitfall, the map does not play well in team snipers when you have to flip flop which side of the map you are on based on when you killed the enemy. This isn’t as big a deal on haven as you can pretty easily see the entire map from top mid, but this is not the case with pitfall and I would highly suggest changing this.

I’ve had a couple instances where the game freezes for a quite a few seconds, but only in single player so far (both campaign & spartan ops). I’ve also noticed the DLC armor (namely my beloved Mark V) is missing. I’m guessing the DLC armors will be used in the next season as unlockables along with all those DLC weapon skins that didn’t make it to the MCC (plus new ones, presumably).

also I personally love the Pelican and Broadsword, will there be a playable Phantom and Seraph[not sure what 4’s covenant equivalent to the broadsword is] in the future?

I just finished the Flight Campaign in one day and there were some issues that I noted when I was going through it. I did one game of Multiplayer and never really went through Spartan Ops so I won’t include them in this.

Campaign Issues:

  • Sounds - First of all, the first thing I noticed was when I equipped the Energy Sword. The sound only came out of my right ear, which is kind of weird and it’s only when I move the mouse that the direction of the sound changes as I equip the sword. There was also the distance of the sounds, I thought that there was a plasma gun charging near me but in actuality, the enemy was 30 meters away from me. Plus in the cutscenes, the sounds were delayed and takes me out of the immersion. - FOV - there’s this weird thing that the game does where whenever I interact with things, whether a button or get in a vehicle, it resets the FOV to the normal and goes back to the set FOV (I play at 90 FOV) - Animation and graphics - There was one point where I sprint and while equipped with the Covenant Carbine, the animation going to sprinting is glitchy. And speaking of weapons, the light rifle’s glowing lights or hologram thingy goes off the rifle sometimes and just spins or something away from the weapon. Furthermore, in the cutscenes (post-gameplay cutscene on Reclaimer), when Cortana got angry, there was a bright flare that covered Cortana that shouldn’t be there or should be behind Cortana, I presume. - Glitches - During Reclaimer, the map was gone at a section, even the Mammoth disappears. This happened just before Rally Point Bravo, so I had to load the game on that specific rally point for the map to load and continue playingSuggestions:

  • The crosshair shouldn’t disappear when running, kinda takes your out of the gunplay - Add the option to remove hit markers - Increase the sensitivity of the camera movement while driving the tank.b

I’m encoutering the same problems from Halo 2 Anniversery on Halo 4 where the PC would have problems running it on a new gen intel with a integegrated graphics card. Is there any ways to solve this problem since I can’t upgrade because I am using a laptop, and I really want to play the Halo 4 flight to give some other feedback.

Good sides:

  1. Crossplay works just fine.
  2. While FOV is 120 FPS is the same as 70 FOV
  3. Forge is better than it was, idk never played H4 before
  4. Viewmodels of weapons are great while crosshair is centered
    Bad sides:
  5. Russian localization have problems with text, it looks like it is in 480p
  6. While using Mouse and Keyboard with high DPI there is UI problems (UI moves slower, than camera)

That is all what I found.
UPD: Have not touched the campaing

Suggestion: make the ‘Play’ button in multiplayer menu more highlighted. It blends with the other menu voices right now.

Area of Game: Misc/Other Feedback
Feedback: On the profanity filter, not a fan personally but I understand why it’s there, just wish there was on option so that those who want it can turn it on and those who don’t can turn it off, or at the very least the option to disable it for squad chat.

For some bizzare reason in the multiplayer when I watch the replay of me getting killed I’ll see people (typically enemy team members) be just legs running around with no torso. It’s only during replays though so it hasn’t affected the gameplay itself.
