HALO 4 FLIGHT - FEEDBACK THREAD

Game has some serious stuttering issues. It’s kind of annoying to play when every 45 seconds or so the game stutters like it’s struggling to load assets. Haven’t encountered this in any other game on MCC so far, just this flight.

Was playing the Reclaimer mission, and encountered a bug where the Mammoth trail disappears after you destroy that Covenant ship. The Mammoth basically floats as its going; and when it stops, you can’t progress further into the mission lol.

As an Australian with pretty decent internet (8ms, 100mbps down), I have played about 15 games and been disconnected from 12 of them. So, not only do us OCE players have to deal with terrible lag on West US servers, we also can’t even finish matches. What’s the point in playing? This isn’t good enough 343. Such a shame you decided to pretty much remove the OCE and Southeast Asia servers. What a kick in the bloody guts. Cheers!

After playing campaign and a bit of spartan ops, I had fun but there were a few things tugging at me during the playthrough.

  • No flashlight made some parts of the game somewhat untraversable due to there being some pitch black areas - As an opposite to the first point, there somehow seems to be more bloom in this game than destiny. How is that even possible lmao I can’t see anymore - The obvious hud movements. Definitely hope I can turn on a locked hud mode. - The weapons feel kinda weak in the sound design. I know that its supposed to be more realistic, but it just doesn’t sit right with me. - No descope. Not really sitting too well with me either. Scopping in, getting descoped, scopping back in again and getting descoped again kinda sucks but I feel like I can get back on target easier if I just got descopped. Getting hit with a sniper shot and looking at the sky hurts too - When getting hit and lose my shield, I don’t really realize until either I’m dead, or I see the tiny flashing bar at the top. - Subpoint: The no descope thing kinda ties into this as well, as you can get lit up and not really know if you’re gonna die unless you scope out - The bullet spread on automatic weapons makes them pretty bad outside of shotgun range. Can’t really tap fire them since individual shots deal so little damage - why tf cortana gotta have feet thoOverall I had a pretty good time, and I hope to try some MP during a play session soon. Also hoping that campaign coop isn’t a complete lagfest for the connecting player sometime soon. A man can dream, right?

    Solution: Create a slider for on screen effects / make Screen Effects a Graphics Toggle that includes effects like these or have a slider adjusting the opacity of screen effects on screen
  • Area of Game: Halo 4’s UE4 Customisation Screen - FEEDBACK: Remove/fill the gap in between item selections to stop the flickering in-between item switching - ADDITIONAL INFO: There is a small gap between every item where if your mouse is in that middle spot it technically isn’t highlighting anything, so it flickers if you are scrolling down the list, this does not affect controller players using the menu, only mouse.Example 1:https://gfycat.com/advancedyellowishilsamochadegu

One thing I sorely miss is scrolling my mouse wheel to switch weapons. Any chance of this becoming an option?

You can still scroll wheel to swap a weapon, I think it’s only 1 directional though

  • Area of Game: Graphics Options - Feedback: Make Medium Shadow Quality in Halo 4 not cast a shadow on the weapon - ADDITIONAL INFO: Halo 4 now has 3 graphics options for Shadow Quality, low medium and high, low straight up just turns of player shadow and lowers the LOD for higher-res shadows and medium to high has no difference, but it also turns off the players shadow that casts onto the players weapon, this is personally a more asthetically pleasing option but has the downside of using a low graphics preset, make the “Medium” shadow quality option exclusively turn off the shadow that casts on your weapon for medium and keep the the quality of Medium to Enhanced

I played through the playlist and here are some thoughts:

Level 1 Forunner: Lightsources have a weird flicker to them making it uncomfortable to look at while walking, other than that no issues here.

Leve 2 Reclaimer: Some objects despawn really quickly, after killing a wraith I turned around and it was just gone.

Npc’s struggle with the mammoth some just straight up die, one got caught under it, some trip and yell as if hit by a car and some jitter around.

later on in the level you have to go inside a convenant ship and take it out to proceed. Once I was in there and broke the engine I was told to escape and the game kept giving me the button promt on how to use the jetpack, but I didn’t have a jetpack so I hit the ground pretty hard. Problem then was that the checkpoint was in the ship. Luckily I managed to land on the mammoth to escape death. It was just odd how the game told me how to use a jetpack when I didn’t have one, and pretty poor checkpoint placement.

Right before the objective “Find cortana” later in the level. Cortanas dialogue is really quiet.

In the final cutscene of the level Lasky’s hair is jittering and changing colour a lot. I believe this is a shading issue.

Level 3 Composer: This is where I would encounter a lot of issues with the game soft crashing. I take notes while I play so I tend to tab out a lot. But when I did so on this level the game would seemingly disappear from my computer, I could still hear it but when I tried to tab in again it was just gone. I did not have this issue with any other level so far, but I will say that I played those levels yesterday and this level today if that has anything to do with it.

The log entries around the level are really quiet and difficult to hear.

The first cutscene when you get to the doctor is very jittery and jumpy when the camera angle changes.

This level in particular has some really bright areas that are just hard to look at.

Other issues: When I first opened the game there were multiple keys that were unbound, this includes:
Actions < zoom in and select previous grenade.
Forge < Ascend, Lock and Switch player mode.
Theatre < toggle first/third person and Pause / resume playback.

When exiting after changing button promts there is no “Click here to save settings” which can cause confusion and irritation as you have to spam escape to get out and only then get the option to save your changes. I’ve had it in the live game where even when I clicked save changes it disguarded everything and I had to redo it.

Other than that everything is playing well and feels good. I’ll keep playing to see if I find any other issues to report :slight_smile:

I absolutely loved putting my Spartans armor back to the OG armor I once had back in the day but STANCES, please bring the Halo 4 stances in. Stances were so huge for halo 4 and it has to be with the launch and update to feel like halo 4 again.

When playing king of the hill I noticed some timing issues with OS and ordnance weapons on map. Some as soon as 1 minute after removal they would respawn. Any map this would be the same issue also. Xbox

When selecting armor sometimes the menu will lag and it will not pull up the armor selected so you have to back out and go back into setting and do it again , also twice now I have had to re select all my armor for my spartan because my spartan returned to default. Xbox

Weapon: Why doesn’t the railgun have a scope or view finder on it? It is a long range weapon! And holy cow is the projectile slow.

Cinematics: The game should tell you to hold Space to skip instead of “[Space] Skip”.

PC, customization Menu. Sometimes it won’t let me change or see the options for legs and visor after changing the rest of the parts. I need to leave the customization menu and go back to edit legs and then do the same to modify the visor.

Customization menu, Console-PC. I’d prefer to have the different variants of the armor parts under the main list like the Gungnir variants are. Venator variants, for example, appear in the Venator sublist and it adds one extra step to see and try them.

PC, Campaign, Level Reclaimer. Some NPCs behaved erratically inside the mamoth and one warthog with a spartan clipped through it while it advanced towards the river after the first cannon.

Multiplayer Feedback

I enjoyed the controlles and the smoothness of the gameplay, but did notice a few visual bugs and glitches, especially with the kill cam.

PC, Campaign.

Characters in shadow glow, until I zoomed in. The other noticeable difference is that its when they saw from a low quality model to a standard quality one.

Can someone at 343 let me know about the following: While playing social matchmaking on Pitfall, there’s just a lot of issues (depending on game type): sound issues, kills not showing, weird white square always present in team KOTH, and a few other things I saved videos of.

My question is, do I create tickets for each individual issue, or can I lump it all into one general ticket for Pitfall? I’ve already created a few individual ones, but I feel like each time I play that level I see something else.

Also, whenever I try uploading videos it fails cause (probably) it’s too big. I upload them to OneDrive and provide a link to that instead. Can you guys view links like that or no?
