I might be the only person who dosent recongise this, but where did MC flashlight go? Because a few hours ago i trying to a jump that would by-pass a hard section of a level but couldnt see!!!. I tried turning up the brightness all the way but it didnt have the same effect as a flashlight would. I checked the controls and nothing.
Some people say it was broken or something when he was on Forward Unto Dawn, but if it was couldnt MC just get another from the spartans onboard infinity?
One thing is certain, i would love to have a flashlight or torch in the next halo game, what do you guys think?
I would rather have a VISR or night vision mode.
You know, come to think of it…your right. We used it so many times, and now, its gone. Although, remember that we have the Pro-Vision, but doesn’t do much. hmmmmmm…

Same here…easier to spot the enemy.
Just like Chief’s translating software, Cortana removed it in her armor upgrade. You know, she’s not that different from 343i anymore.

I would love to see some darker environments that would force us to either use a flashlight or some sort of VISR mode. Halo 4 could have benefited greatly from making the Forward Unto Dawn darker and giving players a flashlight.
The flashlight is useless, I don’t know why they included it.

Well actually, nothing was consciously removed from the game (besides descoping, may it rest in peace), the game was just launched before a lot of things had the time to be implemented. As evidence (I’ll try and find the video on Youtube) a bunch of audio files are left over in Halo 4’s multiplayer. They’re announcer lines for gametypes like assault and race.
Blame Microsoft, I suspect they keep 343 on a pretty tight leash. I like the devs to some extent, and I hate to see them bear the blame every time their publisher screws something up.

Definitely…at least a Day or Night setting. I can imagine Ragnarok if it was set to a Nighttime Environment, lol.

I don’t know, things could get a bit weird if we had a really dark multiplayer map. Not that it wouldn’t be cool, I’m just not so sure it would mesh well with how the game is normally played.

True…perhaps some maps, not all.

Or we could have a “time of day” option in Forge in the near future, to let map-makers decide for themselves. It would open up a lot of options in customs, even if having a really dark nighttime map wouldn’t be well suited for matchmaking. 343 having next-gen hardware at their disposal for Halo 5 opens up a lot of possibilities, as long as Microsoft doesn’t rush them again.

0.0 That would even be better. At this point, i don’t think MS is going to rush 343 this time when Halo 5 development begins.

Someone’s never played a pre-H3 Campaign mission.
It was pretty much essential on Keyes.

How the hell is it a “screw up” to finally cut a visual effect that hasn’t seen significant use in nearly ten years (since the flood infested High Charity and that was the ONLY time the flashlight was necessary after Halo CE.) It’s the poster-child for vestigial assets and I’m very, very surprised that anyone could invest so much into it (namely, anything at all. Look at any of the environments we have. It’s objectively unnecessary.)

You’ve just spawned and are all alone. In the distance you here the sounds of a battle being fought. You start making you’re way towards the battle unable to see much when suddenly you here a sound. You turn around only to be blinded by the flood lights of a warthog charging full speed and then! You respawn…
I definitely missed the flashlight. Some areas were too dark
Tell me one time you’ve ever needed that flashlight. Just name me one time.
> Tell me one time you’ve ever needed that flashlight. Just name me one time.
Maintenance tunnels on the Maw. Otherwise you could rather easily get by without it.
FINALLY THIS DROVE ME INSANE!
And don’t quote me but I’m pretty sure 343 has stated that Halo 5 has been in production longer than Halo 4.

Harsh…
I’ll use this opportunity to bring up the fact that vehicle headlights no longer light up areas… they’re completely aesthetic. How is this acceptable?
That’s a problem with level design. If you get outside of Infinity, there are a lot of dark areas lacking lighting. I can also name spots on Requiem and Reclaimer, some really bright missions, that could use it. And don’t get me started with Dawn.
Btw, in H2, you need it to see the HI BEN easter egg and the IWHBYD skull. In H3, it’s essential for the half-naked guy easter egg. It may no longer be needed for combat, but it’s very helpful with easter eggs and out of map exploration.
