Halo 4 Fixes That Are Needed Immediately

Game Announcements (Multikills, Sprees, etc.) Are Not Made In Theatre Clips
-When you create a clip from a full film, the announcer no longer is audible.

Lack of Precision Forge Controls
-Reach’s Forge controls allowed players to move objects slower and more precisely when holding in the Left Analog Stick. Additionally, players were able to zoom in on objects with the Right Stick to get a better handling of their precision movements. These controls have been removed without explanation.

"X" Waypoint for Dead Teammates No Longer Exists
-Another feature that has been removed without explanation.

To Tell if Your Teammate is Shooting or Receiving Shots
-Another feature that has been removed without explanation

Grifball “Ball Arm Time” Is Bugged
-Setting the Arm Time to any other setting than Instant does not actually change the Arm Time.

Geometry Holes on Ragnarok
-Holes have been found in the geometry of Ragnarok, most notably in the rock slabs to the left of the “beachside” base and on top of the bases.

Lack of Party Indicators In Matchmaking
-Another feature that has been removed without explanation.

Party Details Tell Significantly Less Details in Halo 4
-Another feature that has been removed without explanation.

Setting Ammo Count for Battery-Based Weapons Does Nothing
-Changing Ammo Count for batter-based weapons hasn’t had an effect every since Forge was introduced in Halo 3. Surprising to see this bug make its way into another game.

Weapons De-spawning Too Quickly If Not An Ordnance Weapon
-Players have noticed that weapons are despawning at a ridiculously quick rate after they have been dropped in comparison to past Halo games. This makes drop-spawning weapons (which creates static weapon spawns) a very inefficient method to spawning weapons.

Ability To Drop Flag
-Baffled as to why this was removed. Doesn’t make much sense to me

Games Beginning With No Players On Opposing Team
-Games will somtimes begin with no players on one of the teams. This usually occurs when an entire team backs out after a game or the game after a game has ended because the entire team quit out. This bug is costing players Double XP games.

Distance for Autoaim on BR needs to increase or Autoaim for DMR needs to decreased
-The DMR is much better than the BR just because of this sole reason. The BR is terrible long range. I’m not sure if they designed it this way on purpose but it really puts a quiet to end to the “DMR vs. BR” debates.

Alphabetical Order For Active Rosters
-Really confusing when you try to look for specific players through your Active Roster. Essentially forces you to just scroll through the entire Active Roster to find players.

Inability To Change Vote In Pregame Lobby
-Another feature that was removed without explanation

Tactical and Support Packages Earned Through Specializations Are Not Options In Custom Games
-It seems very unneccesarry for these to not be included as options in custom games. It almost seems as if this was an oversight.

Cannot Change Max Player Count of Lobby Once a Player Joins
-Very annoying bug. Requires the leader to leave the party and make a new one to set a new Max Player Count.

It’s sad because all this is true. I just hope 343i adresses these issues! =)

Your tramates indicator changes color when they are receiving shots. Isn’t as noticible but it happens.

I agree with all of these.

Please add 3-5 second respawns to ALL slayer gametypes and 10 seconds to all objective types.

Killing someone when they can come back instantly makes the game too random and fast paced. When my entire team goes +20 in Oddball but still lose, something is wrong with the game settings.

Absolutely right on these.

The big one here is the unbalanced team starts, I’d say even worse is when you start a game 1v4 and get murdered for the first ~10 kills so that even once other players join, the lead is essentially insurmountable.

agree completely, one thing you left out though is that the pulse grenades need a buff. to me pulse grenades are essential worthless.

I have two more: only two player split screen for local campaign and no K/D count in multiplayer.

> I have two more: only two player split screen for local campaign and no K/D count in multiplayer.

K/D count has never been in Halo… Only in the Post game report.

It’s only ever shown your current kills and points if objective.

IMO

  1. Staying in scope when getting shot???(WTF!Utter BS! Take it out!!!)

  2. The kill feed is sooo boring, Just says who KILLED who. Needs to say who sniped who, etc. Mix it up

  3. Good Connection option/local search. What were you thinking taking this out?!?!?

  4. Add old favourite playlist like Team Doubles,Team Snipers and Lone Wolves( Regicide is a complete joke)

  5. Join in progress is a joke also( People join the game and take host from others which makes everyone black screen constantly)

  6. Perfection medal, why in the world did you take it out?

  7. War games lobby looks stupid, at least let us be able to customize the layout of our lobby(h3 version mixed with h4 colours and schemes would be godly)

  8. Lastly, Add Ranked and Social playlists, 1-50 visible in game would make my life, Even if you leave the other 7 and add this one ill kiss my own toes

All these changes sound good. Support

I’d also like to see them stop rendering gamertags and other text in ALL-CAPS.

Agreed. Remember, however, that these first few weeks are, more or less, the Halo 4 public beta.

They seem to be on the ball in terms of how often they will be modifying the matchmaking experience (confirmed weekly updates as opposed to Reach’s monthly offerings), so I’d expect a lot of changes to be made, based on public feedback, by the end of the year.

I hope so, anyway, because I will NOT be forging without precision editing.

I agree with all of this. Thanked the post, please listen to this man goddamnit.

Sounds like to me you need to go make and play your own game.

This whole list is spot on but they really need some other options as well like the option to turn on knock out of ADS when being hit. In its current state sniping and long range battles are pretty trivial… Flinch ends up just being an annoying mechanic rather than a skillful one.

TL;DR : Disappointed in Halo 4. Would like to discuss on this thread.

Before I jump in: Halo 4 is a decent game. The side of me that likes video games and casual play with friends enjoys it enough. It is the side of me that grew up loving Halo specifically that is so disappointing with where things have gone. This thread is a rant from that point of view so if those kinds of things bother you then don’t feel obligated to read it. I hope this game does well regardless and I hope that gamers of all sorts can enjoy it.

Traditional Halo Communities marginalized:

  • Speed Runners (no theater or timer in campaign)
  • Grifball Players
  • People who liked Assault
  • People who liked Snipers
  • People who liked Swat
  • Competitive players (a continuation of Reach, where they cram a whole community who had Doubles, Snipes, Swat, Team Slayer and Objective Gametypes into a single playlist of exclusively slayer on a limited number of maps)
  • Custom games (there are SO MANY basic options and game types that are gone).

All for what? To try and muscle into the competition for casual gamers? Don’t be a sell out like Nintendo. You’re not going to beat CoD anyway with all of this stuff. This is their turf and they do it well. Why not keep doing what Halo does well rather than shrink all of the original fan base into oblivion?

=============================================================================

So far I have been checking out Starcraft II, Tribes, and Counter Strike. Does anyone know of a game I might like if I liked Halo (Please don’t Say CoD or BF)? Because I am so disappointed with Halo 4. As far as I am concerned, the last thing Master Chief said, was “Wake me, when you need me.” And that epic moment marked the closing of the Halo canon, before 343i Yoink! the game up.

Here begins my rant:

This game is freaking terrible. I’ve already been credit banned from this game, which happened all the time in Reach too. I deserved it but didn’t really care. I got banned because after the first session I decided to just AFK so that I could unlock loadouts for my friends who play on Friday nights.

Hint: I win in BTB with 43 kills: 2200 credits. I AFK in BTB while watching Youtube: 1700 credits. Why will I waste my time when there is nothing competitive? There is NO map control because this game is overflowing with power weapons and labels. Also, there are very few good players, even in TS “Pro”. Just grab a rifle of choice ( I use the BR exclusively because it really doesn’t matter) and keep moving around the edge of the map like you would in CoD. If you keep moving then you will never die.

Let me also throw out there that I’m not that good. I can only get a 42 in Halo 3 TS, and yet I’m pulling off ridiculous snipes and quickscopes like I’m freaking Snip3down. This entire game has just been nerfed to the point that it is hardly recognized as Halo.

One more complaint: the map geometry blows. For anyone who likes practicing good routes and angles, there is virtually nothing for you. The Bounce Jump still works but practically everything that would be useful in the game is just painted onto the wall and cannot be interacted with by the player. That means no incredibly difficult and useful jumps (gold lift jump Guardian anyone?).

===========================================================================

Here is a poorly edited list of things that I am also upset about. Hopefully as the day goes on this will be edited but feel free to skip it too. A lot of it came from other threads that I agreed with and saved in a text file with my own thoughts.

No campaign scoring and no campaign timer

The campaign, while fun, was UNDER 3 HOURS LONG!

No one talks anymore

Teamwork is non existent:
showing (random) weapons all over map discourages communication and coordinated pushes or tactics.

It just turns into a free-for-all camping mess:
Spawning instantly and universal sprint encourages this since there is virtually
no need for map control anymore. Instead you just keep moving around the edges of the map (like in CoD) and if you choose your fights well you survive to be buffed with Amazon-quality ordinance weapon shipping strait to your feet. Half of my (trying) deaths are from forgetting to pick up another weapon.

The “ranking and leveling” system discourages
trying.
my second game in Halo 4, before it had figured out any skill, I got 43 kills on Ragnarok on foot and earned about 2200 credits for that game (not counting the challenges I completed)Now I just sit there and do nothing in Big Team because I still get 1500 credits a game and playing is kind of boring. I’m just unlocking stuff so friends can choose more when they play on my Xbox.

“The “core game play” may still be Halo…but it has so much useless, out-of-place and unneeded crap bolted onto it now it might as well not be Halo.”

  • Paragon Fury, Master of Unicorns

My campaign time to beat the whole thing (with two tries on one level when I was disconnected from Live and had to restart) was 2:55:33. That seems a bit low to me for a flagship campaign.

The sniper is too easy to use. Something is wrong when a kid who couldn’t get past 42 in Halo 3 TS is getting 8 head shots per rifle.

The mantis on Ragnarok is a total !@#$%^&. The only way to effectively take it out is for a stupid driver to take it near cover where you can stun it and jump on top (because there is no way to get near it in the open, e.g. by turret). That’s how most of my games are lost because teammates constantly spawn and charge back to turret to fire off 5 bullets and die… over and over and over (not that I care about winning, since you all get credits because of the Yoink! “we’re all winners :):):):)” stuff).

“I would [agree it is like CoD] if they put in .3 second kill times, low jumping, slow movement, insta-kill nades, Sabre airstrikes, Pelican gunship strafe-runs, and game-ending Halo activation.”

  • CTK Evanescent
PLEEEEASE don’t tempt them… I can see that happening in 5 or 6…

“I’m sorry but the story is not amazing, it didn’t even feel like Halo personally. I felt like I was playing in some Mass Effect side story. Halo was NEVER about some gravity-wielding mastermind hell bent on destroying humanity while the Master Chief, the “chosen one” was destined to save mankind.”
“I don’t know why they thought insta-spawn in Halo would be a good idea. Just blows my mind. I’ve literally died to someone in a DMR duel, spawned a few seconds from where I was killed, and shot them in the head before their shields were back up. -.-”

Forgot about lag issues in co-op games there

Biggest issue for a lot of people:

Some international versions only have the (horrible) localized audio, and can’t be changed to the original english voiceovers

> Some international versions only have the (horrible) localized audio, and can’t be changed to the original english voiceovers

I bought the german one and put it up for auction after a few games and ordered the UK version. It’s that horrible. At least in the other ones the mp announcer would be in english… It’s a VERY VERY BIG deal for us non-english speaking countries.

I agree with ix Halo Fan xi. I miss the strategy necessary in other Halo games. The skill gap has been drastically reduced. My gf who hardly ever goes positive in Halo 1-2-3, can go positive more than 75% of the time in H4. Not to say it’s easy, but if the other team isn’t playing aggressively or too defensively she can easily get 1-2 kills per death.

It really does play like COD. You can effectively pick an area with your team, kill a person or two, and the whole other team will insta-spawn and run right back to where they died for the rage kill. Kill them again, rinse and repeat, getting ordnance’s and it becomes a vicious cycle. I don’t play COD anymore (went through a phase where I played it with my buddies), but that’s exactly what I did in COD and that’s what I’ve been doing in H4.
