Halo 4: First Look IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS

Hello, and welcome to my in-depth analysis of the new Halo 4 video just posted today. Let’s begin.

Okay, so the video begins showing Halo 3’s ending, and we listen to some of the employees tlk about the game.

Starting between 0:50 - 1:00, we get to see some awesome Halo 4 in-game footage. First, we see a player bunny-hopping around. Obviously, this is Halo 4’s matchmaking. We also see Master Chief, standing up and lowering his BR. Yes, the Battle Rifle has returned. The background of wherever Chief is looks a lot like the level Cortana from Halo 3. I was never really around during Halo 3’s glory days to really make a good opinion about the BR returning, but it looks nice. Also, at 0:57, pause the video. On the butt of the rifle there is some sort of symbol…what does it mean? The symbol looks like three sets of wings stacked.

Let’s move on.

At 1:41, you see a nice picture of Master Chief prying apart two huge doors. This looks like it takes place on the Forward Unto Dawn. The first level of Halo 4 will probably be Chief trying to escape the Forward Unto Dawn. If you look in the top right corner from 1:42 - 1:44, you see some more of Chief trying to get out of the Dawn.

1:53: We get our first view of the HUD. You can see that there are 3 grenade slots in the top right corner and there is no health bar. Also, the player is springting, without a little Armor Ability picture in the corner of his screen. What this means is that armor abilities do not return, and everybody starts the game with sprint. This is awesome.

The BR looks spiffy.

Around 2:10: The guy talking says that all enemies and vehicles have been updated graphically. Enemies? Updated? Could this mean that enemies from the previous Halo games return?

2:14, we see Master Chief sitting in the Warthog, with a cool-looking dashboard. I wish that we could drive and sit in vehicles in first-person perspective in Halo 4.

(continued in next post)

2:19: We get some nice views on the Spartan-IVs, which, if you don’t read the books, are the next breed of Spartans, and are made completely out of volunteers. I’m thrilled to learn more about this.

2:24 Frankie tells us that multiplayer maps are made from scratch, not reused from campaign…this makes me happy  Bungie half-yoink!-ed it in Reach.

2:25-2:29 Enjoy the beauty of the multiplayer screens.

2:31-2:32 look at the concept art - it appears that there is some sort of Forerunner-looking ship. Maybe it will be used for a multiplayer map, since that’s the topic?

Wraparound looks kind of like Narrows.

Warhouse is interesting because there is a giant mech being constructed in it. Since when has the UNSC been interesting in mechs? Maybe they were inspired by Forerunner technology?

2:47 - 2:58 Frankie says that they have made a story about why Reds and Blues can fight…could this mean that the UNSC forces are in a civil war? We’ll have to wait and find out.

3:03: Is the face-wrinkling effect done on a character from the game? If so, it could be Parangosky’s ‘apprentice’.
