Halo 4 Firefight concept

***I posted this in another topic about firefight. These are just some ideas that I have thrown around to see what people think. In all honestly I imagine 343 already has their own firefight setup and these ideas are all for not, but it’s still fun. ***

I think firefight needs a few things.

First of all I think that the boss waves need to be more of a challenge. Scarabs would be pretty epic! Maybe they can bring back the small scarabs from halo wars into the fight as well…I think they were called Locusts? Maybe one boss wave could be three of those, and the next could be one scarab with a bunch of elites on it. Another idea could be a handful of wraiths, banshees and ghosts. Obviously these boss waves would only be on the bigger maps where all this stuff can fit. For the smaller maps hunters and spec ops elites would work. Maybe the new enemies will allow for more options.

Besides beefier bosses, firefight in my opinion needs a better end goal that you are trying to achieve. Maybe you need to hold off 40 waves, rounds, or whatever the level structure may be, to wait for an orbital mac cannon to charge up, and after the 40th wave it cuts to a cool cutscene of a platoon of covenant getting blasted from above! Or maybe you need to hold off for extraction, or protect a civilian asset. Just something besides fighting wave after wave for no apparent reason.

Another idea that I like is being able to call in reinforcements such as ODST’s or a pelican with marines. It would work if you were only able to call them in so often. Maybe they can adapt a concept like gow3 where you earn money/credits/whatever currency they want, and you can go to a command post, or radio station and call in reinforcements from a list. Here are my ideas of what could be on the list.

-ammo/gun drop (standard guns at first, but for more money you get power weapons)

-mongoose drop (maybe drop two or three mongeese with some marines that have rocket launchers)

-warthog (with marine passenger and gunner)

-rocket hog (" ")

-gauss hog (" ")

-marine reinforcements (random assortment of basic weapons and maybe a few power weapons)

-scorpion tank (with gunner and passengers with rocket launchers)

-ODST’s (fully loaded with power weapons)

-air strike (maybe a group of long swords or whatever new flyer they put in halo 4)

-Mac Cannon strike (super high cost so that it can only be used a once or twice per game)

Another idea besides a form of currency could be rewards for kill streaks, or weapon based kills.
Some examples:

100 killstreak - get odst’s

100 headshots - ammo/gun drop

… I think you get the point

Anyway besides all that, I don’t like the infinite ammo that Reach firefight has. I would hope the new firefight will get rid of the infinite ammo supplies and go back to the idea of having a limited supply.

Those are some ideas… I’ll add more if I think of anything else. Let me know what you guys think.

and im so with you on the unlimited ammo

How about instead of currency you just get things automatically once you rack up enough points. Like every 2000 points a turret respawns. I think this is easier as you don’t have to wait and buy everything by going to the store or having a seperate shopping wave. Not to mention it would be nice to get assets in the middle of a wave.

The bit about the infinite ammo… There was a playlist in FF with Limited Ammo… but then it was removed, because it took skill to do. People couldn’t spam FRG rounds 24/7.

I think they need to make it more like ODST firefight. Everyone starts out with the same weapons. you cant spawn on people, You take less damage, and the skulls need to be a bit tougher. I mainly think that firefight should be more about survival and less about scoring the most points. It seems that Reach made firefight more of a lone wolf and easy playlist. There also needs to be bigger maps with more vehicles. Maybe it would be fun if you can get credits and call in ODSTs.
