Halo 4: Fan Reaction Thread

I am a Halo 4 fan.
If you ask me, I think every hater is raising a fair point. I think a lot of CoD has been put into it and Halo fans have every right to be angry. For you guys, I think you’ll rarely find skill in Multiplayer, and use it in Campaign more often. Everything is basically being handed to you with ordnance, grenade indicators and the auto aim assist. With all the differences, Halo is changing. For the worse or better, well, that’s all opinion. For example, I have played Infection, and I thought the Energy Sword mechanic was wonderful! With Flood, I feel it’s taking a step in Halo mythos AND making a multiplayer mode, so for me, that was a plus. The vehicles like the Ghost, Scorpion and Banshee can be trolls, but I think you need to be aware at all times to see them to hijack or plant a grenade. This may not be your opinion of “skill” but it fits my definition. Map design is crucial to a great multiplayer experience, and yeah, 343i could have done better here, but every playlist, and every map has it’s advantages. I hear long time Halo fans saying it has lost its unique value, but I’m seeing a brilliant Campaign being tossed aside. Heck, it’s not even being mentioned! The haters are also complaining about numbers in multiplayer. Does that matter? If hate the multiplayer, return it(people are saying they should snap the disc in half). I was impressed with the multiplayer personally. DMR’s and Boltshots are annoying by the way. To sum it up, I think Halo 4 is amazing, even with its glaring flaws. Let everyone enjoy it. Thank you for reading!

What I see, Mass Effect in linear FPS Single Player
Some bastardization of Halo Multiplayer mechanics,
Mediocre Multiplayer maps,
A terribly unbalanced weapon sandbox.

I love Halo, but they need to go back to the roots when it comes to Multiplayer.
What the roots are may be debatable within the community, but it sure as hell isnt what we have now and it goddamned sure was not Halo: Reach.

My .02

Good post. The campaign is amazing. Spartan Ops is also a great addition. Multiplayer has it’s flaws but it’s still better than any other game out there.

I was actually okay with the campaign, because it really hasnt changed in the way multiplayer has. Sure there are AA’s but even in CE you could pick up overshields and camo.

If i started every mission with loadouts i may draw criticism however, thats not the case. My pnly real criticism was a freesing bug that kept haunting me diring specific load points, and the overall shortness of “story” length of the campaign.

Overall for halo 4 my displeasure comes from the fact that many features were riped from reach (like loadouts though, even more OP now), copypasted from other popular games, or simply removed or cough not added yet* .

In fact, thats my biggest concern with 343 and the current franchise of this trilogy. Its ridiculus that we were sold an incomplete game. I dont mind that people suggest i have patients for the full release of the game via update, but a little more apprecition from 343 for giving them my money would go a long way.

The way i see it, i didnt buy halo 4, i invested in the continuing creation of halo 4, considering EVERY PAST HALO TITLE SHIPPED FULLY COMPLETED, albeit requiring tweaks for an optimal experience.

I stopped reading at “every hater is raising a fair point”…

Uhmmm, have you been on the forums lately/ actually attempted to read them from a neutral/business perspective without bias?

90% of the complaints are actually quite pathetic or unbased…

Better in what way?

Better than any other game out there? Why do you think that?? I am very curious about this.

Yea, there are alot of kids on The forums that dont know when to shut up, but its always going to happen unless players fingerprints are scanned by the xbox controller to confirm identity and age requirements to play…

Halo 4 is much better than I feared it would be. I find it quite enjoyable. Sure, it didnt live up to the hype, but few games do once you’ve played them for a few weeks.

I knew a transition was going to be rough.

Halo 5 is the real measuring stick for 343’s ability to handle the fanchise. They have a metric ton of feedback already.

At first, yes, I tried to read from a business perspective. But my opinions started to weigh in defense of Halo 4. I was aggravated when people had a different outlook. Opinions can be brutal. Thank you for making me see that
