I love Halo 4. Love it. But Halo 4, no 343 Industries failed the Offline Community. Save for Campaign, Halo 4 offers nothing to Gamers like myself who do not have Internet. The only time I get to play Online is when I go to a friend’s house.
Aside from Campaign, Halo 4 has Multiplayer and Spartan Ops. Both of which are only useful if you have Internet. 343 Industries ditched Firefight in favor of Spartan Ops. Atleast I could play Firefight Offline. I can’t do that with Spartan Ops. And Custom Games are only fun if you have multiple players. Most of my real life friends don’t play Halo. They prefer Battlefield and Call of Duty.
343 Industries should make Spartan Ops available for Offline play. Not only that, but I’ve beaten the Campaign on Legendary, Solo. But guess what, since I don’t have Internet. I didn’t get the Master Chief’s Mark VI armor. What complete and total crap. Thanks for screwing over the little guys 343i. Now how about you fix the situation? NOW!!!

Get in line. There are so many problems with this game you will be waiting untill H5.

He would also need to pay for Broadband?
MAYBE he’s a student, MAYBE he lives with his parents and is just a kid, MAYBE he has a mean landlord that won’t let him install broadband, MAYBE he doesn’t use the internet and doesn’t want to get it for just one game?
To OP
Yes, 343 has REALLY ignored the offline players (And offline players do exist)
I’m sorry about that… just so you know, to me FF was better than SpOPS anyway.
:EDIT:
You know what I would like to see in halo?
BOTS, AI you play against in custom games.
Set the difficulty (1-10) and how many and then go play against some AI spartans
The only additional offline component of any Halo game besides the Campaign was Firefight in ODST and Reach, and those games still work just fine. This game just happens to not include that feature. If you get the urge to play Firefight, just pop in your Reach disc.

Although i think he is overreacting to the op, technically Spartan ops is DLC and in order to even access the content a internet connect is needed. Why they didn’t make it so you could download it and play offline beats me, might have to do with it giving you exp. If anything if it was available offline it would run into a few problems. They could of had a basic firefight feature but that’s a whole another story and a no firefight is just the direction they choose. It is hard to play dlc that is released episodically offline.
Armor unlocks for Mark V is quite silly but eh not much point to them unless you have online play anyways may be why they overlooked that part.

True.
He can play Reach or ODST.
But I definitely feel a lack of content in the game, and an incredible portion of that content is only available online.
It sounds like you’re just complaining you can’t play SpOps. You get Campaign and multiplayer, but you claim multiplayer is only playable online, because you need friends to play IRL. That’s true, but that’s also been true for every single offline Halo multiplayer ever.
I agree completely OP.Theres no reason Sparten Ops cant be played solo or split screen off line. The people defending -Yoink!- and 343 on this must be such major fanboys that they want to give extra money away.Heres a hint fanboys they dont care about you just your $.

It is just SpOps…
Obviously he can’t mathmake offline.
But, I think SpOps would have more replay value?
Though, I don’t know how many episodes he would have without going online.
I agree. Even in Halo: Reach and ODST, you were fully capable of playing Firefight offline. I see now reason why at least the first episode of Spartan Ops could not be made available to those without Xbox LIVE. It’s definitely a letdown for offline gamers.

I’ve got a job -Yoink-. I’m also a student majoring in Computer Information Systems. When I’m not in class I’m either at work or studying. And the only Internet available where I live is dial-up and I can’t even afford that crap because my money goes to bills.
I have a right to be mad at 343i. I paid my $60 just like everyone else. And even though I’m an Offline Gamer, I’m entitled to everything an Online Gamer is. Forcing me to have Internet to experience everything the game has is BS. And the fact that 343i is too chicken sh*t to face their audience and own their mistakes proves they won’t last long as a game developer.
The simple truth is today’s day and age standards has so much accessibility and freedom to the internet that unless you tell me your in a no service zone when it comes to internet usage (mountainous regions or extreme weather conditions), then I’m going to have to say sorry.
The given situation currently isn’t to get you down, or put down the offline community, but honestly, I just can’t buy the fact you don’t have internet access.
The circumstances right now is less than one percent of the world operates under conditions so harshly they are unable to get an internet connection, I mean, if someone can broadcast a live relay signal from the middle of Antarctica for scientific purposes on similar, low budget, networking software corporations utilize, then I just can’t buy you “can’t” get internet access.
In addition to this, the more and more areas of accessibility 343 dedicates to this offline community element, the more other elements of gameplay could potentially suffer. The tradeoff isn’t worth it in my honest assessment.
EDIT: I understand being in college and being a college student. When I attended, I lived on ramen noodles for most of my years in college because of low budget concerns, but to ask additional support to cover those who are in an offline basis and only an offline basis is just silly.
College’s are known for collective events and many times I found college students willing to jump into anothers room to enjoy some Halo or other video game. If your seriously that concerned about not getting access to content, I’d actually recommend trying to find someone who wants to play as well.
Don’t get all mad at the game because it didn’t appease the offline community to the fullest. The main population uses online services…it’s pretty plain logic. It is sad there isn’t more content for offline users but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. There are other games out there that could satisfy your offline itch. The elder scrolls games is one such example. Expand your horizon.
Also to your recent post on being entitled to everything that and internet user and xbl subscriber has is not really sound. They do pay for more. That is where the content is made. Again plain logic. I was in your situation not to long ago. No excuse to be mad like you are. Just deal with it.
In my opinion this game failed the online community as well. I honestly wont be playing this game a year from now. But I’ll still play all the other Halos.
