Halo 4 Experience System

We know by now that the Halo 1-50 system worked, along with its overall Ranking system. The one flaw was with the ranks for individual playlists, which supported players who were good at the game, but since their overall rank was idk, a lutenant (yes i spelled that wrong) they got pair with new players and crushed them.

I propose we scratch that like we did in reach, but add back some Halo 3 feels.

In reach you were based on credits. You gained credits in everygame (some playlists more then others) and ranked up in a month or so.

I say we MERGE the two systems, making it so instead of getting 1 point per game win, or 1000 points per game (random number)

You get points based on how GOOD you are.

Say your score for a game was the following

20 kills
4 assists
14 deaths
2 betrayals

That would be

+20
+2 (Assists count as a half point)
-14
-2 (Betrayals are a nono and are discouraged)

+6 for that game

Next rank Captain: 75 points

Or something along those lines.

So You get points soley on how well YOU do, not how badly your teamates are.
The down side of this is that it will make boosters easier to derank, but their overall K/D would go dwon dramatically, making it harder to rank up after they got into the negatives.

Post your thoughts on this.

So if you go into negative numbers by the end you loose XP/ get demoted?

What about firefight/campaign MM? 1 Kill = 0.1XP?

(Great idea BTW)

Also more - points for betrayals would be better

I feel for Firefight, the 0.2XP=1kill would work, but campaign? people usually play that for fun, so i suggest giving a set number of points for playing an entire campaign mission on co-op live…like…10-15 maybe?

I forgot to mention extra things like medals.

Lets say your playing griffball or CTF, the If you plant the bomb or capture the flag, thats an automatic extra point, but in CTF, is it fair that if you get it all the way from the enemy base to your, just to be sniped, then some wiseguy comes in and caps the flag instead of you? true he gets a point, but i think you should get a point for every 15-30 secounds you hold the flag.

Griffball that wouldnt work, since no one would cap it, but the extra bomb plant point does work.

Killing sprees would result in an extra 1-5 points, depending on how high their streek goes,

Spree-1
Frenzy-2
riot-3
ect
ect

Assassinations-2 points
Savior/Reload This-1.5 points.

First strike-2 points.

Another thing, Armor/Effects - Rank wise, not credit wise. Halo 3 nailed this, making it balanced between ranks and achievements.

So players should focus on getting there stats really high even if it means making your teammates get less instead of focusing on Winning the game. W/L works better. +1 for winning but a new thing could be that you have total games played underneath total exp so you can know there W/L.

20 + 2 - 14 - 4 = 4

You might want to fix that, or do you get 2 points just for playing?

Anyway, I like the way Reach is. It gives you a number based on how good you are, (like Halo 2) but it doesn’t tell anyone. It matches you up with people who have similar numbers. It works.

He’s not doing it in a equation like that, it’s more about the spread calculated first, then the rest.

20 kills and 14 deaths are a +6 K/D spread.

Then there are 4 assists. Worth half a point each so that’s 2 points. 6 + 2 = 8.

Then there are 4 betrayals worth a negative half point. So 8 - 2 = 6 points in the end.

I was trying to do a spread calculation, but hes right, i misstyped a number.

The reach system works fine fair enough, but Halo 3 defenantly had more competitive edge to it, thats why it was more popular.

I like how reach sets you up with playres with your skill, but
A) it dosent show the rank/skill
B) Credits determine your rank.’

I guess this mightve been more of a ranking system then an expierience system. Maybe a bit of both.

I like it. Although if someone goes negative they should simply not gain XP.

Kill death spread, assists, medals SHOULD go towards ‘experience’, as they show you are actually doing something rather than just winning.

Kills-deaths = +x exp
The better the medal, (eg: perfection, invincible, snipe headshot) the more EXP they gain.

Wins vs. losses should be on a player’s service record too, though.

If this forum allowed cussing, I would throw every single word at you.

And then follow with “This is a great idea!” Seriously though, I’d like to be graded on performance, and punish all the people who do badly/betray/AFK.

(K/D + 1/2 assists + medals - betrayal) + winning bonus + game completion.
Example: (+6 k/d + (1/2 6) + 5 medals - 2 betrayals) +0 for losing + 1 game completion.
13xp

Using this formula as long as you complete the game you’ll get 1xp. Progress is progress.

We should also have a reward for winning. Like +10.

Also, objectives should give extra experience. +5 for capturing flag, holding ball for X amount of time.

You know what we should have instead?

No -Yoinking!- experience system. I still cannot believe people have grown so stupid that they would want WoW-type leveling system included in their First Person Shooter. Has grinding somehow become less tedious and awful in recent years that it’s now appropriate to even think of it, or have people’s standards simply dropped so low that they’ll now accept something that’s best suited for Aldous Huxely’s Brave New World.

You may think this is crazy, but I remember a day when the point of content, even superficial content, was to enjoy it, not to put in serious work for it in some sort of demented virtual “career.” Those of us with jobs have already done that in real life, no need to double charge us 343.

i have to say that last part was completely irrelevant.

Halo 3 had an expierience system? that worked out fine.
