So I was playing 343 Slayer today, and something interesting happened. When my team needed the final kill, I black screened.
At first I thought nothing of it, since when the game was over I was still in my lobby with my buddies. Didn’t need an invite from anyone or nothing. But when I went to check my CSR on quickcsr.com, it told me it was a DNF.
Curious, I checked my Waypoint and sure enough, I got a DNF for a game that the host never quit out of. Now black screening has happened to me before plenty of times in the past, just before the game ends that is and all those DNF’s on my Service Record just look plain ugly. I’ve only quit or lost connection to XBL maybe around 200 out of the 1296 incompletes I actually have.
Can this issue of getting DNF’s for games where the host doesn’t quit out, or yourself for that matter (I guess you can include just all completed games with the host that quits out) , be resolved and could 343 take off the 1000 DNF’s off my record that didn’t actually happen?
I’ve had this before.
Also once or twice I joined a flood game from the beginning.
Vote for map game starts.
Black screen…2 minuets later screen returns and everyone has some kills but not me.
Why is this happening and why ONLY on flood.
> Just to clarify: you’re experiencing games where a host migration without a quit causes the game to show up as DNF on your records?
The issue typically happens for everyone if Red team has host and a migration occurs. Something happens during the migration that causes the game to not set up properly where it left off, leaving the system to believe that no one completed the game. So everybody who participated gets a DNF.
If the issue lies in 1 person getting a DNF without a quit or a migration, then it’s an issue with the player’s internet connection. My guess, is the blackscreen was due to a “stall” in the player’s connection, and when the game ended he was still in this state. This means the system couldn’t pull his data for the game to upload to the servers and was then given a DNF since his data was missing. Regardless that the host keeps track of medals, sprees, etc, the player is responsible for sending the data up that verifies they completed the game.

There is no host migration, my team is just about to win, I’m the only one on black screen, my team gets their final points while I’m on black screen, they get a win and I get a DNF
I guess you could say it is a host migration without anyone quitting. My connection is just fine. It’s irritating to see my Service Record be plagued with false stats. Makes me want to cut a toe off.
My grandmothers internet is way worst than my own and they’re both on a wired connection. I’ll lag forever on her net, without getting DNF’d. My ISP tells me that there isn’t anything wrong with mine. So I don’t know what’s up. This isn’t the first time it’s happened too.
