looked at my stats today on halo way point .scrolling thru my play list and
it said dnf 4 of my games .whats up with that i finished all my games .it even said i had a dnf on a map i never played before .the games awesome even if i’m losing .
There are a few reasons being tossed around for this. Someone claimed that if you JiP, then it counts as a DNF, win or lose.
I believe that it’s just the cluster-Yoink!- that Waypoint stat tracking is right now.

But seriously, it’s Join In Progress. I have those on my service record as well, and I never joined in progress or quit early. It is from something else. Maybe when it is searching games and thinks about JIP then doesn’t, while you sit in the lobby.

Hmm, I looked more closely at the DNF in my service record. Games take about 10 minutes to complete. I see that each of my consecutive games are separated by about 10 minutes each. But, in between those games are the DNF. They occur a minute or 2 after a game is in progress. It displays a DNF with 0 kills on a different map. Weird.
I noticed in at least one case, I backed out of a lobby right after a game ended and my service record recorded the following game as a DNF for me. Not sure if this is the case for everyone else.
I’m seeing a lot of DNFs too. At first I thought these may be due to the server issues on release day but they keep happening.
I’ got DNFs for about 1 in 5 recent matches.
I hope they get it sorted out; I’ve got like 5 DNF without ever quitting a single game. I wonder if there will be a stat reset when they fix it; I’d hate to be labeled a quitter.

they must be working on the dnf problem . Because the next day after I posted on these forums .I checked my stats the dnfs where gone .even One dnf on a level a never played before in multiplayer.

Ive had this problem with at least 5 of my games. Its definitely screwing my k/d ratio. I joined a game in progress, went 18 and 1, and when i look at the stats afterwards, it said i only had 5 kills, and gave me the death. Also made it a DNF. So it definitely could be an issue with Jip. Also believe its happening for watching the xp bar, and then leaving when its searching for more players. They need to fix this asap.

It’s like if you want to look at how much xp you earned or what you unlocked at a certain level then you will be in a pre game lobby afterward. That will result in a DNF then if you wanted to back out after a match.
win / loss ratio means nothing in this game because of the fake DNF’s from pre game lobbies and the JIP putting you in no win situations.
I have 23 DNF’s. I’ve probably legged out of about 5 games and have never quit. So, please remove these games from my service record. I know there from game where the other team quit in lobby and then the game started with only players on my team. The game starts then goes directly to the victory screen, but it does not give me a win and still add a game to my record.
I’m envious of you guys that only have 20 incomplete games. I have 58 incomplete games. I’ve only been disconnected from a game maybe 4 or 5 times, and I have only quit once. So I have no idea where the other 50 came from, but I’m glad they’re there. :\
I’m pretty sure I got a LOT of these in the first day or two of the game. I thought it was from either the host changing or from join in progress counting the game twice, but counting the duplicated game as a game played with no stats.
Bumping this. Just had this happen with a game last night. Showed DNF for everyone in the game, even though it was played through to completion. I quit out of the lobby following the game, but not even that quickly. Too bad, it was a good game and I did well. Why can’t this every happen for a game where I got pwned?
Anyone seen anything from 343 about why it happens, if it’ll be fixed, and if those games are lost forever?
This problem is still HUGE… I had 6 games taken from me last night. Games in which I did really well. Very disappointing. 343 doesn’t seem to care much
