Halo 4 + DLC maps

Just a quick post on something I have seen in many other shooters yet haven’t seen in Halo yet regarding DLC. Instead of making playlists DLC required why not simply make an option which you can select at any time which tailors people to your DLC packs.

Note: I am aware that there is an algorithm run to hopefully pair you up with others that have DLC however it doesn’t work most of the time. This is the best way of continuing.

For example: If i want to play SWAT and i want DLC maps, I can select to only find people with the map packs I have. Now obviously playlists without DLC maps in them won’t have this option but it seems like a great idea for playlists where there are a large amount of DLC maps, but never get chosen because there is one person who doesn’t have the packs.

I’m sure this has been posted before however i believe that 343 need to; once and for all give us this option. There are games out there that sell barely 100,000 units and yet they have this option. It doesn’t make sense that a game such as Halo wouldn’t have this option. Having this would allow those who purchase DLC to play them when they want to.

A healthy discussion is appreciated.

Or people could just stop being cheap and buy the damn things. Seriously…

Cater to the people giving you money over the people who aren’t.

I agree 100%. Thing is, more people play the game without the map packs then with them, so they cater for the majority and try not to pee them off. If 343 gave us this option, no one would ever have a problem.

If the DLC maps are better than the default by far, which I hope is not the case, I really wish they could make it cheaper so more people could have access to them. Its ashame such good maps are hard to find players for.

I don’t care about the majority. I really don’t.

If I’ve payed for the maps I’ve purchased the maps to be playable in matchmaking. I’ve purchased a service. If I am not able to play said maps online because others refuse to purchase them then I am not getting value for money, in which case I will either demand a refund or take it to a higher power.

I don’t mind a laugh here and there but if you aren’t giving me what I pay for then you better get ready for a fight. I do not let people take my money easily.

If 343 wants people to purchase the maps they need to give them a reason to buy them other than just “Ooh, new maps” I need to be able to play them. If I’m playing on purchased content I feel as if there should be playlists dedicated to the DLC content/normal maps.

If that annoys a couple thousand people then you can honestly tell it to my back because I don’t care. I’m paying for maps. I’m getting my value for money and I don’t give a rats -Yoink- if that annoys anyone here.

This goes for many other people who were furious when the Premium Battle or whatever it was called was removed from the Reach playlists. No matter how many people played it was not important, it was a playlist dedicated to people who decided to part with that extra $10-$20. It should never have been removed in the first place…

One thing that Call of Duty MW3 did, was that it gives you the option to look for DLC maps first only, and if it is taking a long time to find a match, then search for default maps.

That would be a good idea if used toward the Halo dlc matchmaking.

I liked the way Halo 3 did it (Legendary and Beyond): They would start with a dedicated DLC playlist for several months. Then, they would slowly integrate the various map packs into certain playlists, again, slowly. After 6 or 7 months, about 50% of playlists would be DLC required and the rest not.

Then, when the next map pack released, that would follow the same path, with the previous map pack being integrated further.

It was something like that. If not, that’s how it should be. If 343 is determined not to require DLC, they need to make achievements non-map pack specific (like the Noble and original Defiant achievements).

I agree with almost everything everyone has said so far.
