Halo 4 DLC Armor

It’s been bothering that ever since the release of Halo 4 on MCC, 343i hasn’t considered adding the missing DLC Armor to Halo 4’s Customization tab. It’s pretty lame but I have hope that they soon will add it into the game. It just makes me wonder why they’ve taken longer than usual to add like 4 or 5 sets of armor that was included with the Champions Bundle back on 360. Anyone have an idea of when we could be expecting these armor sets to drop?

There has been no word of it so far but we do have another four Seasons to go as well as the Exchange afterwards. So I am confident that they will make their way into the game at some point.

I’m sure that they’ll be added eventually. It seems to be a highly-requested set of cosmetics, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t add them unless they’d somehow break the game

Quote from the October MCC development update: “In the future, we are looking to bring over the Halo 4 Champions bundle armors.”

They will most likely come. When that is, no one knows. There also missing some other things in H4, those being 6 weapon skins, the Resistor tactical package, and the Survivor and Recharge support upgrades.

It’s annoying at this point that we haven’t seen the DLC armors… I get it, Halo 3 is everyone’s “favorite” and 4 is too controversial to put much effort into. But seriously, choosing to add content that is “technically” from another game (Halo Online and Fireteam Raven) is easier to do than adding armor that already exists in a game’s code? I don’t buy that in the slightest. Sure, the DLC armor had some bugs in the original game that prevented use in Spartan Ops, but I seriously doubt they are that hard to fix compared to porting over content, or creating it from scratch.

I apologize to any 343 guys reading, I just want to rock my ODST armor again… Air Assault and Recruit armor don’t cut it. 3 has more than enough content at this point, and unless they are deciding to add the entirety of Halo Reach’s armor into 3 (for some reason), I don’t really want to see anymore content for Halo 3. The other games are loved too, especially 2 Anniversary! Give them some love too!

Not only should they add Halo 4’s DLC armor, but they should add the cut content as well.

For example, the GUNGNIR armor has a set of gauntlets that are fully rendered and coded in the game; but not used. LOCUS helmet has an alternate paintjob. Recon, Infiltrator, Soldier, and Protector armor have missing gauntlets and legs that weren’t implemented until Halo 5. And finally…

Hayabusa Gen-II. It was fully modeled for Halo 4 by Liquid Development, the third party assistance that did many armor sets modeling. It was probably unused since 343 couldn’t cooperate with the developers of Ninja Gaiden for the crossover like Bungie did. BUT they could easily rename the armor set to something like Shadow, Assassin, Hanzo, Ninja, Oriental, Shaolin, or SOMETHING so we can get the armor set in the game.

I knew about Hayabusa, but I didn’t know about GUNGNIR or the others. Absolutely no excusing not using AVAILABLE ASSETS over importing/creating new content. Halo 4 is the Black Sheep of the Halo family, and it doesn’t really deserve that treatment anymore… Halo 5 got more love than 4… and that game is a mess.

Give us our missing Halo 4 armor 343! Halo 4 was your baby, don’t abandon it!

If that happened, it would be incredible.

There was an excuse that made sense.
Time constraints. Halo 4 was the first major Halo game made in only 2 years rather than 3. As a result, a lot of the game was incomplete and crunched.
The campaign was shorter than any other, and the multiplayer was released without ranked playlists. Some of the planned armors were made into DLCs. For example, the Recruit gauntlets weren’t put into the PvP armory but were used by the NPC recruits in the Campaign. So when Ricochet came around, the gauntlets finally got to be used. Also, the Recruit right shoulder wasn’t used in game anywhere except for single player NPC Spartan IVs.

EDIT : for the others, you simply have to look to Liquid Development’s 3D Models made for Halo 4 and the concept art for Halo 4 armor sets, noticing that the gauntlets and legs of things like Infiltrator, Soldier, and Recon were existent in the files but never utilized. Modders have even managed to equip the GUNGNIR gauntlets and cut LOCUS helmet. In fact, if you look in the Prima Official Game Guide for Halo 4, and look at the complete armory roster, they will have an image where the GUNGNIR Gauntlets are in use and the default Gauntlets are only used on Warrior armor, since the Recruit Gauntlets were repackaged to be the Ricochet Gauntlets.

They also left out some of the loadouts kits they added in H4 in later updates, but for some reason are left out of the MCC.
Tactical Package : Resistor
Support Upgrades : Recharge & Survivor.

There were also some other TP/SU that they had left out on the cutting room floor, such as : - Last Gasp (drop a live grenade upon death AKA CoD Martyrdom), - Aural Enhancement (Enemies cause a beeping sound when walking around near you, supposed to help counter Active Camo), and - Battle Awareness (Be able to see your enemy’s shield condition when your reticle is on them)It would be cool if these could be added into the H4 sandbox

From my understanding (based on what I heard from other people), the reason these haven’t been added yet is because they want them to be usable in Spartan Ops too, which was not possible in the original game. Which is perfectly fine, but why not just add them in so we can at least use them to customize our Spartans, and then put out an update when they’ve fixed the Spartan Ops issue? I’m not complaining about it, I’m just curious.

It should be easy to make them usable in Spartan Ops, considering the fact that my Spartan IV on Halo 4 MCC is equipped with DLC Paintjob gauntlets that were unavailable for use in Spartan Ops because of the same reason. It honestly confuses me a bit as to why you cannot use Ricochet Gauntlets in Spartan Ops on OG Halo 4, considering that they were already in the game before the DLC came out.
(Spartan IV NPCs use the Ricochet Gauntlets and the gauntlets are also seen in the Prima Official Game Guide, which was made for the launch of Halo 4. They are truly Recruit Gauntlets and were supposed to be the actual default in Halo 4’s armory.)
(Same goes for the GUNGNIR Gauntlets for Halo 4 able to be seen in the Prima Official Game Guide, yet never used.)

Maybe they want to bring them along with cut H4 armor. This video shows a Locus variant and some forearms that were implement into H4, but never made unlockable (Similar to the Blast skin). There was also a cut version of Hayabusa, though it was never implemented, so I have no idea how plausible that would be.

Yeah. It is a shame that these armor assets were cut from the game.
Earlier in the thread, I pointed out the Hayabusa armor being cut likely due to an inability for 343 Industries and Tecmo / Square Enix to coordinate for another crossover like Bungie did in Halo 3.
As for the other armor assets I mentioned, they were cut due to time constraints as Halo 4 was a rushed title and tried to put too much new stuff into one game and had to leave some out. Had Spartan-Ops been a spin-off released a year later, we might have seen these assets actually be used in Halo 4 itself or in a Halo Spartan Ops spinoff title.

its really just a frustrating picture of what we have to deal with, they say one thing then they take forever and don’t give any updates. While we did get something last year, that was back in october! we are already nearing halfway into 2021 and so far into it all we’ve gotten is terrible modeled halo 3 skins (besides odst armor) and a TEST of cgb.

I’m hoping when they finally put the dlc and stuff into halo 4 they also update it to the good version of tu where they buffed stuff, this is so weird because everything else so far has been up to date but 4? They left out so much stuff!

To be fair, the “terribly modeled” Gen-II Prototype armors were brought over content from Halo Online. It is something I suggested that they do back in 2018; but they kinda followed my advice.
Sure they implemented the armor… but it doesn’t seem that they updated the armor graphically NOR did they put them into Halo 4 or Halo 5, instead just carrying the designs over into the Halo 3 multiplayer since Halo Online was made on the same engine. The reason the armor is poorly rendered is because Saber Interactive was tasked with making a Halo 3 PC multiplayer game, and made a bunch of new designs… but they were in Alpha stage when the game was cancelled. 343 hasn’t really touched up the designs much beyond a few minor edits. Though the Rhine armor is definitely brand new and not from Halo Online.

Plus, when it comes to their seasons, they seem to be going in a certain order.
Noble came first, since Reach was first in the timeline
Spark came next.
Then it became out of order a bit, with Recon, Anvil, Reclaimer, and then Raven.
I believe they might try to implement the Halo 4 stuff either next season or Season 8. They still have A LOT of Halo Online Armors to implement.
So far we have like 8 armors… out of 98 new sets of armor that were to be in Halo Online. (And that is with me leaving out armor sets that originated in Halo 4 and Halo 5 Guardians.)

personally i just really dont like the new armors. They could of taken time and made them way more better like with what this guy did where he straight up redesigned the armors but they really just ported alpha models and then released fully well designed armor??? Like who thinks thats a good way to update games?

also rhine, is not that pretty either, too many clashing styles

I agree with that statement, I love the vid and I have even downloaded it to my phone a few days ago.
But you also gotta think of the production costs. Had 343 chosen to finish the models or even tweak them a lot, it would cost them more money as the workers have to take a lot more time than just a simple “copy/paste and add some code here and there”.
Which means that these Seasons may have ended up like Fortnite or Rainbow Six’ seasons with a deluxe pass you would have to purchase to get the better goods. And we all don’t want that.
