Halo 4 Disc Read Error Bug

Before anyone says otherwise, this is definitely a bug.

Here’s what happens: after finishing a multiplayer or spartan ops game, while the game is on the UNSC screen, the screen will freeze right before the logo does the dissolve thing and it will spit out an unreadable disc error.

This occurs whether I am playing the game from disc, or it is installed to the hard drive.

If I delete ALL of the Halo 4 files and reinstall everything, the problem will sometimes be alleviated for a few days. Sometimes this does nothing. I have had the game since about December and I think I first started noticing this problem in March. I’ve just been dealing with it, but I’m sort of at a breaking point with it.

Since I started getting the error, I’ve done two things; replaced the laser in my 360 as it was having difficulty loading some games (it was out of warranty anyways), and purchased a different hard drive (official Microsoft drive, not some sketchy Chinese business). So, in my mind that basically rules out anything with the console since those are the two components that would be throwing up some difficulty here.

I have a Xenon 360. I can also rule out this being the disc because I’ve played it a lot on friend’s consoles and it has never had even the slightest problem.

I really hope someone here has some solution to this.

Thanks for reading

I should also add that this happens if I install the multiplayer content from disc 2 or if I download it from Xbox Live. Sorry if double posting is against the rules… maybe I’m a moron, but I don’t see an edit button anywhere.

I have the same issue since they announced the new update, I’m not even able to launch the game nor apply the new update. :frowning: something needs to be done. This is very disappointing, I’ve had halo since the release and it’s still new disc no scratches

“I can also rule out this being the disc because I’ve played it a lot on friend’s consoles and it has never had even the slightest problem.”

That actually tells us that if the disc is having no issue playing on other consoles than you will want to reach out to Xbox Support about your console. It could be a corrupt file in another part of the hard drive, or something else entirely.

Regardless, it does sound like it’s either a hardware issue or something causing it on the console itself, not an in-game bug.
