Halo 4: disappointment? Missing the old Halo!

So, as promised, im back to edit my post last night into a complete POV.

IMPORTANT NOTE: READ THE WHOLE THING THEN DECIDE. THATS CRUCIAL

Greetings to my fellow Halo players:

As stated above, I am here to assert the arguments on why Halo 4 was a disappointment.

Halo as a whole is my favorite FPS for two reasons. The epic campaign, and the competitive nature of the game compared to other FPS games. In comparison to other FPS games most of the competitive playlists throughout the series are very balanced and require more than just a spray and pray mentality. Unfortunately most gamers these days do not want to have to get good at a game. They want to be able to pick it up, start with the most bad -Yoink- gun in the game, and fire from the hip so to speak. (Halo: Reach and 4)

The Campaign…
The Campaign itself was what brought Halo up. Halo 1’s campaign brought first time gamers (Its the first game anyways) into a world of epicness. (Is that a word?) It was finally a game consisting of aliens and space with a realistic storyline. The Elites…Grunts…Hunters…Jackals…Each had their own traits and strengths and weaknesses; each played a role in Campaign well. Now, the major reason why Halo was so loved: Spartans. How cool is that? Your a super-soldier in the future, fighting off covenants with realistic and epic weapons. You can jump high, run fast, and beat down the enemy with a few punches. You have Vehicles at your aid…Falcons, Warthogs etc. Its just so thrilling and cool, being on a battlefield. The battles itself were challenging. The elites were evasive and strong, The hunters were tough and powerful. The grunts…well…they were funny but deadly in numbers. There was also an infinitive amount of things to do in campaign. Such as glitches to be found, Driving into the sea to see how far you could go, climbing towers to its highest points…following the only grunt left of a unit you destroyed…all these were fun. The storyline and game was loved.

The Matchmaking…
Omg, so the Matchmaking. Most shooter games have one thing in common: KIll. Deathmatches…Quickmatch…etc etc. But all you do is kill. Whats the fun in that? Sure, if your skilled, it might be fun for awhile. But soon you realize…all you do is shoot and kill. Theres nothing to add to it.
Halo brought on a revolutionary gameplay. Its own unique playlists. Oddball, CTF (Most loved at the time) Slayer pro, Slayer, team slayer, Big team Slayer…It was just epic. It now involved strategy, skill and tactics. It wasn’t just a rush in/camping gunning game. (Halo reach and 4 there) It involved objectives.
It also definitely took skill. The pistol was overpowered, but you had to know how to aim. No stray lucky bullet for you,or random shooting. The assault rifle wasn’t overpowered. The sniper took skill. Heavy weapons such as rockets and fuel rods only have one spawn on maps. The vehicles were even, and none had dominance over the other in ANY way. It took skill, strategy, teamwork and tactics to win. Tea bagging, otherwise known as corpse humping, is a renowned phenomenon which has been used by generations of gamers to portray either superiority over one’s enemies or to just generally be a -Yoink-. The act itself comprises of a player killing an opponent, standing over their corpse and crouching repeatedly. In most cases, a KillCam or in Halo’s case, respawning screen, captures the act and forces the victim to watch in embarrassment. Tea bagging in games were first given notice on a broad scale through popular games such as Halo and Counter-Strike. It was part of the game and everyone…EVERYONE has done it once in Halo.

You can easily see the effort Bungie poured into the game with the emotional music, competitive multiplayer, creative sprites, forge, and the inspiring campaign.
Many people find it easy to pull the curtains, dim the lights and camp in a room for hours playing campaign with its music, or matchmaking with its superiority.
When people ask you, why is Halo so loved? Whats fun about it? Most peoples mind draws a blank. Really, i am sure you’ve had the same experience. Most people reply…play for yourself. It cannot be really described with words.

REAL Halo players. These millions of players (Really, Millions) were the players who experience Halo 1 to 3. They all loved it. The community was very defensive and very cooperative, and matchmaking was adorable. Sorry, but dont consider yourself one if you have never experience halo 1 and halo 2 matchmaking, campaign, or Halo 3 matchmaking and campaign. Its VERY different from Halo Reach or 4. Halo was actually a major reason why most people even bought an XBOX. Sadly, however, these players quit the game after seeing or experiencing Reach for themselves. It was ridiculous. What was Bungie doing? sure, that was the last game they were making, but why didnt they put in more effort? and leaving the Halo franchise to a completely unfamiliar company? 343? What kind of name is that? Most Halo players became veterans, and lamented the loss of the traditional halo. Halo separated itself from other shooter games. It was a perfect universe for gamers to dig into.

Halo: Reach introduced a new generation of gamers. Like i mentioned earlier:

Unfortunately most gamers these days do not want to have to get good at a game. They want to be able to pick it up, start with the most bad -Yoink- gun in the game, and fire from the hip so to speak.

Oh yes, and Reach met their standards. The Banshee rampages, Wraith riots, Scorpion Frenzies…The rocket launcher…fuel rod cannon…Shotgun…Yup. People just pick it up, and its not even that hard to find. Fire away, and in no time your camping with 2 heavy weapons and waiting for someone to fall victim. Grenades are your favorites too, because 2 in a row could finish someone off. The shotgun was overpowered. The rocket wasn’t like Halo 2s, but there was an indescribable annoying knack to it. Vehicles are so hard to destroy. Well that makes sense, so its ok. But there’s so many vehicles! BTB has become a playground for 10 year old kids who shout into the mike and ruin the game. So has every other playlist. It annoyed old Halo players. Its fine they dont know how to play, but these people were obnoxious, and dominated the heavy weaponry. The BR was left out…which enraged A LOT of players.
Bloom was ridiculous. Starting from Reach, The bloom enabled players to rely on luck (“stray” bullets) and random spraying/firing. Zero skill involved. The DMR was a great example. Many Old halo players go into theater and watch how they were killed by a DMR. After watching, they shout: “Bullcrap, that repticle was miles away from my head!” and take the reach disc out, replacing it with a halo 1, 2 or 3. The assault rifle sucked. Players found that it could be easily defeated by a plasma pistol. The plasma grenade became favorite. Slayer “PRO”…person chooses covy loadout and sticks people 24/7. Halo reach was full of Nades. So is 4.

Well, sorry folks, but it seems 343 wouldnt let me complain anymore. 7500 letters, it says. Check the link above for my arguments on 4.

Really good Post My Friend. I love how you made it entertaining. Not just some rant, or technical mumbo-jumbo type thread. Kudos to you for that.

Now, as for Halo 4 not having the Classic Halo feeling behind it, I can not say from experience. As I myself have not Purchased or played Halo 4… yet!. I have Played Religiously, Halo 2 Xbox Matchmaking, Campaign, and Customs. I did the same with Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo Reach (On my brothers Gamertag: USATOPGEARUSA).

But I believe in what you say is the truth and take your word that Halo 4 is not the same.

But I still want to experience it myself. Mostly for the Campaign. As that’s why I feel in love with Halo.

The Name and word of mouth brought me to Halo (Halo CE in 2002). The Campaign made me fall in love with the Franchise. The Multiplayer is what made me stay. Everything else (Forge, Customs, Theater, Firefight, Spartan Ops is just a bonus).

Halo, to me, is only as good as it’s worst game… Because it only takes that one bad experience to turn someone off. For good.

What… I was curious what your well thought out arguments might be as to the merit of this game versus its predecessors. I don’t think this is the best Halo game, but it certainly isn’t the worst. So, I clicked on the link to your other thread… and what do I see?

"The vehicles are just ridiculous. The mantis is overpowered, the gauss warthog is just pathetic. Instead of evening out the red and blue teams vehicles, it gives more vehicles to a certain team or a more powerful one to the other. A game can be easily won if an opposing team has all occupied all it vehicles.

Friendly fire. Oh yes, its always been there, the most annoying presence of it residing in Reach. Why its never turned off, we will never know. (You can still betray in BTB with vehicles. Guess its categorized under “Realistic”)
The maps are pathetic. The only good ones are Ragnarok, complex and solace. "

Okay… so where is your argument? All you say is The vehicles are ridiculous, the Mantis is overpowered… Where is your proof, where are your statistics, where are your examples? What is “pathetic” about the maps? You say the only good ones are Ragnarok, Complex, and Solace… Why? You don’t discuss flow, design, aesthetics. Where is your reasoning? If you are going to make massive threads and big overly dramatic statements, you need to back it up with some actual information.
