Halo 4 Destruction

The halo 4 teaser trailer may hint at destruction being present in the game as master chief picks up an explosive pistol like weapon and blasts a hole in the wall; is it just a trailer thing or is it somethinng we are likely to see in the final game, with a weapon like that maybe its purpose is for landscape destruction?

It may be seen as just another advancement in a physics engine or just a gimmick but why don’t more games try to replicate destruction if it has gravity why not destruction it happens in the real world. Advancements in lighting, textures and physics have occurred but no destruction is very many games.

Should the game if at all feature destruction and if so on what sort of scale, limited landscape and vehicular destruction (just some improvements on what are present in Reach) or map/building destroying destruction.

Do you think destruction has a place in halo 4?

Yes, everything you see or hear in the trailer is meant to be an appetizer for what’s coming. As for destruction, I think it’s going to have a unique Halo twist. Consider this - most of the environments will be Forerunner and the like, meaning not everything would be breakable. Then there are Precursor concepts like Unbending Filaments and all that, so I’d say destruction comes with moderation. Melting rocks and breaking trees sounds reasonable, but don’t expect the whole map to slowly crumble around you.

I would love it if there were weak types of stone walls which a type of bullies can penetrate, but they are rare, and not the normal type of thing you will take cover behind.
