But Halo 4 won IGN game of the year and everyone on Waypoint thinks it is the best Halo EVER. Goes to show that the “whiners” and “complainers” are correct about everything they’re saying.

I feel the same way about Crysis 2. A great MP experience, best I have ever played but the lack of support from Crytek has killed it.
The problem halo is having is that 343 and bungie towards the end, ran away from a formula that works. 343 made too many changes just for the sake of change. The reason why CoD is so successful at the moment is that they’ve stuck to a formula that works.
343 needs to go back to what made halo great. Not a -Yoink- BTB only game. Halo 4’s base play is also amazing which makes it that much more frustrating dealing with these issues we are facing. We have developer support, but terrible developer support who thinks they are helping
I hope to god JiP doesn’t affect my rank when skill based ranks come out in 2013
> > How can anyone say population numbers do not matter? Hellooo…A 70% decline in a games gaming population 1 month after the release date is a pretty serious matter. Especially, when such a gaming franchise was a contributing factor for the creation of MLG. This is just 1 month after the release of Halo 4 and as a fan of the Halo franchise I am worried. I LOVE HALO…I have LOVED HALO for many years now and these numbers are quite worrying.

Of course, there will be another Halo because of the sales numbers, but if 343i keeps putting out games with terrible gaming populations the end of Halo will come sooner rather than later.

Like I said before, even in Reach when the total population was 20,000 or less every day, there was never any issue finding a game instantly in any playlist.

Yeah right, me getting matched on red bar host 4000 miles away every match is pretty obvious due to low population in a game.

Ill quote you and agree.
Too much cod and reach in this game. Even cod doesnt base its maps around sprint just like 343i did with the huge maps. Tis a shame that Halo is in the hands of purely BTB fans. I enjoy BTB but i live for 4v4 and this map is lacking in that department. Also, flinch is awful. Get that out of this game.
Everybody should care. If Halo is pulling these numbers and CoD is tripling that, guess what’s gonna be in the next Halo, even more CoD features.
I really fear for the future of Halo and the entire video game industry.
Its funny how many people claim to hate the game, yet you are still on this forum spamming it full of hate. Go play another game then.
Not one of these again…
OH NOES THE POPULATION IS GOING DOWN SO THE FRANCH1S3 IS DHUUMED!!!
Do you people not get it? We’ve had enough of these -Yoink- posts. As long as I can find a game quickly this thread means nothing.
Go play Far Cry 3 Multiplayer and then let me know if you think the population of Halo 4 is a big issue. I know Far Cry 3 isn’t nearly as successful as Halo 4 (in terms of MP) but as long as the waiting times to find games isn’t long, your threads will mean NOTHING.
Far Cry is catching up…
BTW I HATE THIS GAME
those are just the peaks there are still well over a million different players on a day
Population does matter. If this 2nd TU doesn’t bring back the balance Halo 4 needs it’ll tank before the middle of the year next year.
343 needs to get through their skulls, A progression system doesn’t do a damn thing that a 1-50 ranking system will do and have Ranked AND Social playlists. It’s what’s making Halo 3 survive 5 years later.
> Ok and? No one cares about population as long as you can find a game in every playlist.
It obviously does matter, it shows that the game isn’t doing so well, it shows that the game has flaws, it shows that halo 4 isn’t as good as people say it it. People like you who say that the population doesn’t matter are such idiots.
Wait until Christmas.
What is this free map pack people speak of?

Btw, I think Far Cry 3 is actually very enjoyable. Far Cry 2 was an absolute abomination.
Just like on Ubi’s forums; people flame the game after and praise the one before.
But don’t worry Halowaypoint.com…you all still take the cake
I guarantee that the call of duty effect is playing a role in the decline. However, greater than 100,000 people playing is still a lot of people and as long as I can find a game quickly then it’s a non issue. Other games have been less fortunate to keep a player count as high as halos is at this point. Call of duty is the epitome of casual shooting. It still frustrates casuals to shoot someone in halo.

Oh my god, yes, populations do matter.
Low numbers of people playing Halo shows that Halo is obviously not able to stay popular and is slipping off the charts.
This means there is a greater chance that Halo will be discontinued, as in there not being a Halo 7, 8 or 9.
Just throwing a random idea out there that population could have gone down some because of all the other games that came out in November and also many students that play having finals. If it stays down or lowers over Christmas break, then that could be a problem.
I love how Halo having 100,000 players and second on the XBL charts is it “being dead”.
Some really decent games out there barely have anyone playing them…and we are complaining about a few hundred thousand?
I would be deeply appreciative if you would refrain from speaking…
Some game companies would probably KILL to get their games to have this kind of population. Not every game out there can pull numbers like CoD now.
