People have been wanting this since the early development of halo 3. Why not just do it! Custom game search engine would ruin matchmaking thats why. People would just be roaming through custom games and having fun playing random or competitive -Yoink- all day and matchmaking would be sucked dry! Gahhhh just make it happen. Find balance.
If the fabled clan system returns, Custom Game clans could be setup so everyone can find what they’re looking for, and matchmaking can continue it’s existence.
> Matchmaking is overrated and outdated. Custom Games Browsing is the new way to play online! Unfortunately, Halo hasn’t modernized yet.
Look at Battlfield 3 it’s almost impossible to find a normal lobby, and people absoulutely hate it.
the same would happen to Halo 4 if a custom game search were installed.
I don’t know maybe im the only one who likes structured matchmaking to exist in my games… and maybe im the only one who likes default game shipped maps.
It won’t happen, too late in development. Also, it would require a rewrite of the netcode to make those games available to the rest of the online population through a server browser.
It’s a lot of work too, the 360 has a limited amount of resources, and as it’s been said on GAF, the bandwidth that is available to them is already nearing max. Microsoft only allots games so much of the bandwidth that the console can actually use. This is so the console can run the features in the background that it does like parties, chat, and notifications.
> It’s a great idea but there would have to be a private setting if you dont want randoms to join.

> But they could add that in an update or something so its still possible.
There is a private setting already…
Invite only
Friends only
Open
It’s been there for a while, but it’s largely been useless.
