Halo 4 CTF changes are just evolutions

Classic Halo CTF - Flag juggle to move the flag faster and attain normal walking speed
Halo 4 CTF - Flag carrier remains at normal walking speed, isn’t slowed down by carrying.

Classic Halo CTF - Drop the flag to kill enemies
Halo 4 CTF - Flag Carrier is equipped with a pistol

The only problem with the new CTF is the fact you can’t pass the flag to teammates, but don’t kid yourself, nobody ever did that. Not on a regular basis anyway

I know there’s millions of Halo 4 CTF threads, but I made my own to spread my own opinions.

What about the waypoint above the flag carrier’s head, which is visible to the other team?

In my opinion this is worse than any other CTF complaints.

How is removing an ability that has existed for 11 years an evolution? I thought evolution involved moving forward with new things, not taking things away.

> How is removing an ability that has existed for 11 years an evolution? I thought evolution involved moving forward with new things, not taking things away.

They aren’t taking things away, they are adjusting it to fix the common problems that were prone to the gametype.

People wanted to go at full speed, so they flag juggled, now you don’t have to.

You needed to drop the flag in order to defend yourself, now you don’t have to.

I try to take a level-headed approach to this. I can see why both sides of this argument have the opinions that they do. Admittedly, I’m a bit nervous about not being able to drop the flag, but I rarely dropped it anyway. I’ll do my best to reserve my judgment until I’ve played a few matches. It’s too late to change anyway, so there’s not much use complaining now even if it does break the game a bit.

Classic Halo CTF- Unique experience with tons of different strategies and game types.

Halo 4 CTF- The same generic CTF we play on every other shooter with only 1 game type.

Halo always had the best CTF compared to every other FPS with CTF. So what’s the point of copying every other mainstream FPS’s version of CTF?

So if I had rockets and was in the enemy base, alone, tell me why I should pick up the flag.

Oh wait you can’t.

No flag dropping = a step back.

The other CTF concerns are nothing compared to this. We know teams don’t work together in MM, and flag captures in Halo 4 will simply not happen. One guy will grab the flag and immediately get stomped on by the enemy team. There will not be a group effort to assault the base and take the flag.

It just doesn’t happen in matchmaking.

Sorry??

why was Halo 2-3 CTF so unique? Enlighten me.

Which is why if you’re truly playing to win and play competitively, you play with a well co-ordinated team, never have I went into MLG or Arena expecting to win on my own.

And we needed to drop the flag to use rockets against a Warthog. Now we can’t.

We needed to send the flag off of man cannons for our teammates while we slowed down the enemy. Now we can’t.

We enjoyed sneaking around with the flag undetected. Now we can’t.

We enjoyed bait and switching the other team by dropping the flag before driving off, thus luring them to the wrong place. Now we can’t.

We enjoyed passing the flag up to a teammate on the ledge above us that we couldn’t jump to. Now we can’t.

Sure but the changes are geared toward those people who dont do what u say.

If you’re the flag carrier, you make the decision to be vulnerable, the idea of capture the flag in general and in real life, is that one guy gets the flag and the rest of the team protects him, not you being a 1 man army running around with a flag and rockets owning everyone.

Even if you were playing in a team orientated environment, this is a stupid system. It completely removes any stealth aspect which CTF had, it also removes much of the tension found in CTF.

I am seriously struggling to find a positive aspect to this addition…

If you’re the flag carrier you passively make the decision to sacrifice all power weapons, it makes you thing strategically, why take all the power weapons when your team needs them to defend you while you run the flag.

If you want to drop the flag, then you should be able to…
I don’t see how this adds in more tactics, it just takes away.
Everything we can do in 343’s Halo CTF were we able to do in Bungie’s Halo CTF…

(Yes I refer games after Halo Reach as “343 Halo” and the one’s Bungie made as “Bungie Halo” (or “Original Halo”) lol)

I know one other guy who plays Halo for serious.

Everyone in Matchmaking is already in parties and team chats… Making friends on the game simply doesn’t happen anymore. Designing your game around having to make or already have friends is ridiculous.

Please tell me more about playing Capture the Flag with guns and rockets and Warthogs in real life, it sounds interesting.

Unique because it had its own style of CTF. Dropping the flag alone added so many different strategies, something absent from most CTF’s

The different variants of CTF, Classic, 1 Flag, Speed Flag, Neutral Flag, and others, something that other shooters with CTF didn’t offer. Very Unique

So enlighten me how CTF on the previous Halos weren’t unique. Explain to me how its just like every other CTF and how Halo 4’s CTF is different from them, because Halo 4’s CTF to me looks like the same exact style of CTF you play on CoD now except you use a pistol instead of your primary.

Do you have any idea where capture the flag originated from? and what the actual rules are? In real life CTF you can’t tag people while you have the flag, nor pass it to other teammates, atleast thats how we play it here
