I wonder if they are making new controls for Halo 4… Hopefully they will make choices for H3, H4, and Reach controls so you won’t get confused. I personally like Reach’s controls.
HOW COULD WE KNOW?
I hopw it’s more or less like Reach. Action buttons on top and command buttons are A,B,X, and Y.
Button mapping dude, solves all the problems.
Halo 4 should do one of these things:
-
Move the switch grenade button onto the D-Pad and replace it with the “Deploy Equipment” button.
-
Remove the ability to switch grenades and just give that button to the Deploy Equipment function. You couldn’t carry frags and stickies at the same time anymore though. Or you would have to throw the grenades in the order you picked them up. For example if you spawned with two frags and then picked up two stickes you would have to throw the two stickies first before you could throw the frags.
This way the button used for AAs in Reach could be the default Sprint button and your switch grenades button could be your Deploy Equipment button.

People have been -Yoinking!- about wanting to be able to button map since H2/H3. Why they havent given us the ability to map our own buttons astounds me, seriously. Guess it would take too much extra coding for in game actions would be my guess.

That reminds me. I heard a story about how the Win32 folder in Windows was so hard coded into the OS that even when they moved to 64 bit they still had to keep the Win32 folder.
I don’t know but seriously, it must be a possibility for H4. If they can’t add something that simple in all the time they have I honestly have no idea what H4 will be like.

If they are building on an existing engine, which they most likely are, it may be harder than you think. Allowing you to remap certain functions may cause bugs that they don’t want in the game.

I wouldn’t base my entrie opinion on H4 just on controls. Thats the least of our worries.

No idea WHY with TODAY’S tech this NOT a CHOICE for us.
343i I love Halo 4 multiplayer but not allowing us to map is such a huge fail on your part.
