Ok usually im the one who will defend 343 on this sort of thing but after going through every control button setup they have on here i have to say the controls suck. I am actually thinking about not buying this game because these controls are that bad. The community were told, that we would have a setup to for our play style. That is a lie. My playstyle has been default from halo CE-Reach.Ive been playing HALO for about 7+ years and these controls do not represent the default playstyle at all or any halo’s for that matter. Swapping crouch for sprint destroys creeping in halo 4 and makes it VERY COD’ish. It was said by you 343 yourselves that sprint is the highest used AA in reach, so why alienate every person who plays with it by throwing AA where it belongs?
343 i know for a FACT you can map a button layout in this order. Reach default with AA mapped to (B) and sprint mapped to [LB] and switch grenades dpad .That is my playstyle. It was said all playstyles would be accounted for you lied. Recon does not come close. LB sprint and left stick crouch is a must for default reach users. This Control setup by SUB JANI is by far the closest to default for ALL halo’s. Map sprint to [LB] and AA to [RB].
Dont give us this it cant be done stuff either. This would take one person a max of 40 mins create, name, create the gui image and finalize to update the build guaranteed! As someone who has devoted years playing halo and really wished you to succeed 343 please. Im pretty sure you guys care about what your fans think and would like to listen to them so please show that you care by making it feel like halo for all of us. Sorry for the wall of text by the way but this is very serious to me. Thank you.
Don’t give up hope yet, they’re trying to find a controller schemes that would be comfortable for everyone to use. To be honest they should just get rid of sprint in general and increase player movement if they were worried about speeding up the game.

I didn’t realize you were a professional game developer.

> But I do find it kind of odd that they hyped “there are a ton of control schemes, you’ll find one that suits you”, but the actual number isn’t quite on par of what they were hyping. Honestly, there is one more control scheme that could fix a few of the issues. It would be nice if they could squeeze that in. (And I doubt its that simple to add in control schemes, as you said.)
@maxwell David Ellis has said this Here And if this is true i simply will not be able to play.
Halo 4 has yet to go gold but i know it is close. This quick addition to layouts can be made VERY EASILY.
How are you gonna aim at someonme while using Jetpack or ProVision?
How will you keep your Hardlight Shield pointed at the enemy?
Sprint is fine where it is.
And PLEASE, for the love of Halo, how is the control scheme “CoDish”?
I would also be fine with it being on [RB] and controls in COD are the same with sprint in left sitck and crouch on (B) which are basic movements. Sprinting and creep crouching become incredibly awkward and uncomfortable for someone whos default like me.
> You should do I what do every time a new game comes out. Adapt.
You can’t adapt to the game having control scheme unsuitable to the way you play. This is reversing years of muscle memory from past games and it won’t be right.
> Im telling you guys Bumper Jumper is the way to go. Practice the BJ and you realize how amazing BJ really is.
Some people just don’t like the way the controls work.
> Im telling you guys Bumper Jumper is the way to go. Practice the BJ and you realize how amazing BJ really is.
I know right! Once you master the BJ you can get anyone on your friends list, this guy i know is really good with BJ he beat me with his BJ stick layout and all the chicks loved him, but i was extremely sweaty after my defeat, afterall i was using fishstick and i stink at Halo.
There is more than one configuration you know.
If you want something like the classic, Recon is close enough(I use it in Reach and more likely use it in H4).
So don’t get so bent out of shape if you can’t get used to a couple different button placements.
> The controls aren’t unusable however for people like me there is no control scheme like this in the game and that will make the game more troublesome.
>
> The controls won’t break the game, however they may dampen the playing exerience for players like me.
Same here, but if i recall, just like any halo game, you can change the controls in the options menu.
