Halo 4 : Controller Layouts

Purpose of this post:
To discuss all the controller layouts that have been implemented into Halo 4.

Bumper Jumper
Southpaw
Boxer
Green Thumb
Fishstick
Recon
Default

Which Control Layout will you most likely be using?

I recently switched to Bumper Jumper to learn it before Halo 4, because of the awful placement of Sprint and Crouch on Default…

Recon.

Hopefully the Default is the same as the one from reach.

Sprint for Recon and Bumper Jumper, are odd to me, but if sprint it some sort of a toggle, I am leaning towards Bumper Jumper as of right now.

Fishstick still looks interesting.Depends a lot on the Zoom-in and Zoom-out behavior with the left trigger. Does anyone know how it works ??

Hoping and praying that Fishstick is hold-to-zoom.

Recon :stuck_out_tongue:

Damn, I accidently clicked Default before checking them all out. But it’s ok, because it looks like that’s what I’ll be going with. Was a bit annoyed at the crouch change at first, but considering Sprint is now default it does need a button of it’s own. Plus, selecting grenades in either direction is a smart change instead of simple toggling.
Long story short- I welcome the new default with open hands.

I used Recon in Reach, but after playing Halo 4 at Eurogamer Expo, that didn’t work for me. So I’m going to be sticking to the default, it has downsides but it felt more comfortable.

Definitely seems to be the “Call of Duty Translator” for Halo. I’m assuming you can both hold and tap to enter and exit zoom with LR, as you usually would with toggle-zoom. But with Sniper rifles I think you’ll most likely need to release and pull the button again to change the magnification. Along with Default I think it’s a fairly solid layout too.

RECON but i want X and LB switched

Yea, I think I am leaning towards Default or bumper jumper.

i want to be able to jump and aim at the same time without losing like a second of aim.

Default, Bumper Jumper.

Recon needs some tweaks.

I’d be happy with bumper jumper too, if only sprint wasn’t on the A Button- I don’t see sprinting, turning then stopping quickly around a corner to be an easy task.

the more I look the more I dislike the armor ability being on the X button for Bumper Jumper…

Recon all the way, though I would prefer the reload on the X button like Halo 2.

Huh, I just realised there’s not clearly defined Legacy option either. I hope there’s no retro purists out there banging their heads.

EDIT: Wait, that would be under the stick configuration options, my bad.

I still use Legacy… I’ve tried switching but I’m so bad with default!

I could see Boxer being usable now that I’m really looking into it.
