Halo’s CE through ODST, I always used B for melee. I was a bad player for many reasons and I think this was one of them. My game improved when I switched to RB for melee in Reach, because it allows me to melee without taking my thumb off of the right stick and miss my hit. I’d like this to return as the default in H4.
The big question is, Sprint and AAs. Sprint is going to be standard, so that means Sprint can’t be the same button as the Armor Ability. I want Sprint to be LB, but what button will be best for the Jet Pack? I want LB to be my Jet Pack, lol…, but we can’t have both. Sprint can’t be L thumb stick, because that’s our crouch. I’m confused as to what I really want in Halo 4 for control. Help me out here.
I think sprint will bee on the left joystick as in if you are not moving and click it, you will crouch and if you are moving you will sprinting. Like it is in resistance.
I use recon so this would be ideal. LB would still be the AA button. And RB would be the action button. X for switching grenades since we have never been able to carry more then two kinds at a time in matchmaking.
Melee will always be the B button for me, has been for 11 years and I don’t see me changing now.
maybe with the d-pad you can change the armor abillity, for example: i have a jetpack, i want to sprint, i just press Left or Right to change to sprint.
I just wrote a long and detailed reply including quotes and alternate control schemes.
Then it disappeared.
Bummer.
Anyway, I’m a little miffed about it. Here is the short of it.
I would like a completely customizable control scheme, barring that since developers besides Bethesda never do that, I would go for the standard Reach layout with the d-pad switching AAs.
i want a new control layout because i want to use a different melee button (B). i use recon in reach because i don’t like bumper jumper or the default. i would actually like melee on LB just to see how i would like it, being able to use analog sticks and RT at the same times. actually why not have custom layout? seems like it’s what everyone would really want.

what if they let us customize our controller layout like some games ? just an idea
