I am going to the midnight launch for my pre-ordered copy of Halo 4. However, at Game in the UK, I’ve discovered by trading in my Xbox Elite, I can get the Halo 4 Console package (Game, Console 320GBHDD, two Controllers and Headset) for £170.00 ($270.00).
I don’t actually ‘need’ anything but the game. I have a working controller, a pair of Turtle Beach and regular wireless headset, and a working console. However, I’ve been a big Halo (and gaming in general) fan for many years, and have never made such an expenditure.
So I’m tempted. Money is a concern, but not a huge one, as I find I spend far more of my expendable income on my partner than I do on myself, and I could easily justify the price. However, what with the release of Microsoft’s next console probably in the next two years, am I getting value for money? Or should I just get the game and be monetarily sensible?
Not to be rude but why do you come on here to ask this question. Only you know if you have the money or is it really worth it to get it. Again not to be rude but we aren’t financial advisors.
Having a backup console is always nice and it’s a limited edition one. FOTUS armor and i think some other items, including a controller.
If you decide your wallet can take the hit, go for it. If not, i would refrain from doing so because it sounds like you have all that you need to play the game.
Like the others said, its entirely up.to you at this point. Do you need more memory? New controllers? Do you even care of the dlc that comes with the console?
If you.don’t need to, you don’t have to. If you really want it, you do know some ways to knock the price down.
It’s worth it to me since my console is dead, and I am about 2gb away from a full harddrive. If none of those were.happening, I’d most likely not go for it.
I would BUY IT! Your old Xbox Elite could RROD at any time. The new Slimline is QUIETER and you get a new WARRANTY. Also the LE console looks prettier, you get TWO controllers, The Latest Game, Bonus Downloadable Content.
Also the resale value of this console will be higher because its HALO and all Halo stuff retains its price for a lot longer than anything else. These slimline consoles are like mining gold. You can seperate anything you don’t want and sell it.

RROD is a factor, seeing as how my Elite was pre-owned in the first place, and is now a good many years old (with two years of ample playtime by myself alone).
Resale value is something I hadn’t actually considered, so that’s a strong point in it’s favour. Think I’m gonna go for it - I’d get the DLC as well anyway, and I have friends who’d be interested in the peripherals.
And to those who point out you’re not my accountants; I know, I just thought I’d gather some opinions, maybe get some information (such as the quotation).
Well im in your exact position, and I decided against it for a multitude of reasons:
Next gen console is going to be announced/possibly released next year. I might as well save the money to buy that, or the Halo 5 version of it a few years down the line.
I have a newish and perfectly fine Xbox 360 slim.
I personally don’t think it’s a very attractive console. Transparent plastic and patterned blue lines isn’t my thing. If it was a UNSC theme (like the controller and tritton triggers), I would be all over it. FOTUS just looks like a joke IMO.
But in the end, it’s your money and your personal preference. If money isn’t that much of an issue, why not? Go ahead and treat yourself! Hope you feel happy with your choice and enjoy Halo 4
