I have been playing halo since the first game, I made a living playing halo 3 (not much of one but I did end up making 16,000$ in products and money combined.) So if there is anybody that is qualified to make a suggestion it would be myself. Halo 1-3 was a very successful series due to the fact that it was FUN and COMPETITIVE! Halo 2 introduced xbox live as one of the first FPS games online! The game (Halo 2) was the most Competitive game EVER!!! Everyone wanted to be the best at this game and a lot of people put COUNTLESS hours playing the game just to get MODDED AND CHEATED in Matchmaking. Most people did not even care that this happened because they knew that they were the best in the game(even if they were not) This is what i call Master Chief Syndrome, where gamers think that they are the best in the world! THIS STARTED WITH HALO 2. Halo 3 dropped into market 4 years after halo 2 and was a MASSIVE success. Due to the fact that Halo 3 was on XBOX 360 and is VERY VERY hard to Hardmod or even Softmod your xbox360. In halo 3 alot of players got their level 50 general accounts, which bred a whole new system of gamers, THE LEGIT good kids(is what i like to call them). Also i have not mentioned that in all the halo’s up to the 3ed installment were FUN not just for the every day player but fun for the average player, AND fun for the first timer. and the reason for this is that the game was ranked. The game was ranked 1-50 in H2 and H3 so if you were level 10 you would get matched up with people that are of your skill level, and you would have more fun than you would then if you got matched up with a bunch of people that play the game every day! Now in halo 3 the game soared in the eyes of the players BECAUSE of this distinguished skill level 1-50. Now lets talk halo: reach (Or also known as the halo that should have never been created.) Being that master chief was lost in outer space they needed to create a new hero and a story that happened before master chief, so now our new hero, could not live up to the Master Chief for a few reasons. In the FIRST cut scene in halo 3 master chief is seen falling from orbit, he was moving so fast that his Mk-4 armor was seen on fire from the velocity of the fall. “why do you ALWAYS have to jump” says sgt johnson. meaning that Master Chief did this on several occasions! EVEN IN THE BOOK i read that master chief and a ton of spartans fell from outer space (MANY OF WHICH DIED!) but master chief LIVED from the fall… In halo: reach, you can not even fall 10 feet with out loosing all of your shields 15 feet is death!!! HOW THE HECK DOES THIS MAKE SENSE!!! WE ARE SUPER SOLDIERS THAT CANT EVEN LIVE FROM A FALL THAT I MYSELF AS IN ALEX REEVE could live from!!! are you serious!!! Now to move on to halo reach’s downfalls in matchmaking. My jumps went from kobe bryant to bryant gumbal (IF you dont know who this is its a man that does the channel 4 news!) Another thing is that PEOPLE quit games no matter what is going on inside the game THEY COULD EVEN BE WINNING and doing the best on the team and just quit in the first 2 minutes. This is a total flaw from the old games being that EVERYONE in the past had a rank that they cared about I remember one time my sister flew out to OHIO to see our family and i was in the middle of a game when she was leaving to fly back! she was sooo angry that i did not get up off my game to say goodbye that i got soo pissed when she brought this up i took off my 100$ headset threw it across the room and began raging! in halo reach people will just quit out of the game just to pick up a shiny penny. This pissed off most of the people that still play reach. Another flaw in the game is that (i myself am well known threw out the entire community) when people who are good are playing they can get matched up with new players and loose because of it. The game used to be competitive because of the Level that was next to your account name. This makes the higher tiered players angry when we get -Yoink!- noobs on our team and loose. This is ultimately a team game, so being that it is team game, one player cant win the game EVERY time. Players like myself play to win the game, and for no other reason then to win. Thats what HALO is all about in the past before reach and i feel like this is THE biggest downflaw to Halo: Reach. I am 26 years old and the only reason why i still own an Xbox is due to the fact that Halo is a competitive game, and I would hate to see players like myself SOME OF THE BEST IN THE GAME leave because players lack skill on your team. We as a community deserve a better matchmaking experience then halo reach had. If go back in time halo 2 AND 3 still had 2 million : 2,000,000 people playing after 3-4 years of the game. Halo reach has less then 100,000 a week after the game came out! THIS IS A HUGE FAILURE if you ask ANYONE. Sure the game had better graphics and new campaign and new weapons (THE GAME WAS FRESH JUST LIKE FROM HALO 2 - 3) I feel like halo: reach was a HUGE slap to the face to the community that has kept HALO STRONG for so many years. I almost cried when the local gamestop said that they are doing nothing special for halo 4 because the last game did not sell well… Even before halo reach was released(during the beta) players were revolting and telling bungie that this is not what we wanted people were VERY ANGRY that the game changed sooo much. IT IS NOT THAT THE GAME CHANGED IT IS THAT THE CHANGES WERE HORRIBLE. Why take away the main weapon used in halo 3??? this is a question that i dont think ANY body can explain (INLCUDING FRANK O’ CONNER) MY thought on this is that Bungie as a whole thought that the game was controlled by the “GOOD KIDS” or the top level players. So what bungie attempted to do was eliminate the competition from the game by taking away the weapon that they excelled with. I could 4 shot ANYBODY IN ANY SITUATION in halo 3. which is why they dumbed down the DMR in halo reach and added bloom SO NOT ONLY DO I HAVE TO SHOOT MY WEAPON AN EXTRA TIME I HAVE TO TIME MY SHOT TOO JUST TO HIT THEM??? in mid game i have SOO much to think about like where is the player that i just killed spawning where is the other team going to push our team from, where can our team go to flank the people on the other team push. I HAVE TO SHOOT MY GUN 1 EXTRA TIME AND TIME MY SHOT TOO??? this is obsurd in my opinion. now i dont care that i have to shoot an extra time in halo 4 because the people who are good will still probably play MLG playlist and bring the BR to a 4 shot weapon again (ALSO OPINION) even if not halo 4 looks like a great game well balanced and fun to play IT DOES NOT LOOK AS COMPETITIVE as the earlier halo games but still better then what reach was. MY CLOSING STATEMENT THAT I HOPE FRANK O’ CONNER reads is that Halo 4 needs to have a ranking system you have fixed everything else that we have asked you to fix including armor lock dmr bloom and jump height. Now it is time to step up the halo 4 experience by adding the old skill system back… I do know that the system has been cheated and abused but there are a ton of solutions to fixing the deranking the ip flooders and the standby’ers Make the game Hard to rank up from level 1. What i mean is make it 5-10 games just to win your rank 2. make it so that everyone levels the same (Not like halo 3) where if you have more exp in the playlist its harder to rank up JUST MAKE IT HARD
