Have it start out with the forerunners leaving earth. Then the Mayans start making their calendar, based on the info the forerunners gave them. Then it shows them calculating the time and making the calendar. Then it’s shows the end date

Great idea! I think it would work. It’s not like the Mayans had to have physical contact with the forerunners. They could of used artifacts/clues that the forerunners left behind on Earth to make their calendar. As for the people that will say “Well where are them artifacts now”, or “where are the clues the Mayans used”, the excuse could be, the Mayans are gone and we don’t know for sure why, maybe the artifacts and clues were lost with them. Not that an excuse would have to be made, but people always gotta pick apart an idea they don’t have.
Also thought it would be neat to put the idea “An Ancient Evil Awakens” theme which has been predicted by the mayans from the forerunner artifacts found. It was never the end of time predicted by them but the release of a new beginning.
