Orignal post. View at your own discretion: What Mr. Wonka thinks about this
I read the game informer article and the reaction by so called fans still blows my mind. Every detail that I read seemed to be that ya it might have been done in cod but its still going to play like halo. Infinity and Spartan Ops both seem to take some ideas from it but make it better. I don’t get it though you say its like cod but is the game play similar ?
Cause to many people quit out of games halo 3/Reach Effect a fix that probably will work best is the drop in drop out system. Despite most negative response to this it will not work as the so called super hardcore halo multilayer fans forget no one like 1 vs 4 and that rage quiting is to common in our games.
Load Outs and Armour Abilities from what I read I think 343 is trying to fix and make these better from what reach did with them. Sprint as a default and all the customization seems like load outs are not showed in for the sake of amour abilities. And said abilities seem to be treated as just an add -on that will help you out but not a focus like reach.
Sparten Ops - While I love Firefight this is probably for the best from what has been said a free season of new content each week with story will be given to us. It seems while thought out and not just a poor copy.
Points- credits or xp that could not be spent. Remember that the goal of a multiplayer game is for you to have motivation to keep on playing, most games with single player use unlocks which now multiplayer games are taking advantage of. This is something that was bound to end up in halo. Though these ranks are social I can see them still adding a 1-50 but please remember not every one is a 50 mlg pro so do not act like you speak for all when you say social is stupid.
Which brings me to my final point, you did not play the game or pay for it yet you are just over reacting to a video game. You need to let 343i the people that are in charge of halo handle it, between the books and additions to Halo CEA there going to be great to the series. A majority of you need to remember if you think you way is right then make your own game see if everyone likes it and it sells. Because the truth of it is while games can be art its a business and crying about it just makes you an immature fan. Honestly your post could of said this game sucks its more about platforming but it should be about speed, It does not play like the genesis or look like it, and how about the new voice actors suck. Oh you know what you should do is go on sega’s forum and post like you are now you will fit in well. LOL
Hey, I have not yet read the article but a friend said something to me about Halo and Kill Streaks. Please tell me it isn’t true.

It isn’t.

No where was Kill Streaks mentioned.
Alright thanks guys. I just wanted to be sure.
I don’t even like kill streaks in COD. I’d hate to see them transferred over to Halo
> What Mr. Wonka thinks about this
And you are probably one of the people that if any of those ideas were posted by someone before it was announced to be in the game. You would be like No! thats from COD.

No. I actually suggested once the idea of customizable weapons and killstreaks in Halo, and in a different manner that wouldn’t be mirrored to CoD. I can tell when there’s copying, referencing, homaging, or stealing.

Good. I think customizable weapons and killstreaks are horrible for Halo. But I dont know how you suggested them to be so I cant say.

You need to realize while some of the elements are done in cod, halos game play is not changing. Even if kill streaks where in this game its hard to see then like cods due to the differences. To be honest I would think that they could be done better in halo. As Halo might be based some what in reality but its sci-fi and there is so much creativity in this universe that something happening every time you get a spree might be cool. Remember Halo is not a dead or unpopular series if they are taking elements from games, they are not going to copy but improve it. Only bad game will copy and fill shallow. So cods modern, realism style which has some effect in kill streaks would not and could not translate well into halo. If it did happen it would be poorly shoved in which I doubt as 343 seems to be all about halo so if they did it, it would probabily be in a way that would complement it.
I don’t know why most people seem to assume that stuff can not be improved on or made better. Other games have taken stuff and made them 10 times better then the original. But everyone wants to expect the worse.

It would be in a way that is quite different than CoD or Battlefield 3. Anyway it was just an idea, not a suggestion for 343i.
Not that having a conflicting opinion will change anything about what 343 is doing.
But I am disappointed; that despite them claiming to have anticipated this reaction they didn’t have the hindsight to rename these new aspects to something less resembling of halo’s competition. One would think that would cause this reaction to at least be delayed or maybe they didn’t want to hide from it? Maybe they don’t see any other way for the game to change? I do not know and I have no way to prove that, but it’s the only reason that makes sense to me.
Whatever will happen will happen, It’s just sad to me that after 10 years of incredible game play without stealing heavily from other franchises the game’s caretakers seem to be less attached to the traditions of halo. Wanting to be more like other fps games on the market and what not. Anyone who claims otherwise now is just ignoring common knowledge.
To me it doesn’t matter that they claim it still plays like halo, I’m sure it will; that was never in dispute for me. What bothers me, and so many others I’m sure, is that this heavy borrowing of aspects is happening at all. Evolution can happen independently of other sources, it’s ridiculous to believe otherwise.
Too long didn’t read I’m a -Yoink-: Evolution can happen without copying, I’m sad to see some of the ways halo is changing.

For the most part, people aren’t saying Halo 4 is like CoD because they share similar names (Spartan Points, Spartan Ops), but because the gameplay is changing. It’s drifting away from traditional Halo gameplay and more towards CoD/BF style of gameplay. The more modern style of first person shooters. This is why people are calling it a CoD clone. If you fail to realise this then you never knew how to play Halo in previous iterations.
As for the article… well, I’m not sure what to say. I don’t like how modern shooters play, and Halo was one of the last “old school” shooters out there. It’s the reason I played Halo; I like that style of gameplay. Change that then I have no reason to play it. Instead of trying to ‘modernise’ Halo market Halo as modern. It’s not like there’s some invisible wall that prevents this style of play becoming modern again. We see comebacks happen all the time in the world of fashion and other areas of the entertainment industry.

I’m pretty sure the reason why people are calling Halo 4 a CoD rip-off:
- They haven’t played Battlefield 3 to make a comparison or hardly any other game.
- They think customizing a loadout automatically makes it a CoD rip-off.
- Under the age of 20.
DON’T WORRY GUYS, IT STILL FEELS LIKE HALO!

Thanks for reading my article guys much appreciated and any feedback is welcome.
I’m surprised how many of the fans of Halo are so angry about this information, fair enough these features are present on Call of Duty and are being implemented in halo 4 but as I said in my article Halo needs to evolve to be the best console shooter especially if they’re going to release a new title every 2-3 years.

Do you really think that’s the only way for halo to evolve though? Through copying?

I made an edit to my post above :3
I don’t like the path 343 wants Halo to go down. It’s not what I’m interested in, and it’s not why I started playing Halo.
