Co-op has been a great addition to the halo franchise.

With the gaming industry progressing as it is, I doubt we will see master chief clones like in halo 2.

These look like they could be our new Co-op characters.
What do you guys think are, these the new characters?

Doubtful since they would have no place to appear on the Forward Unto Dawn in the beginning. I think with Halo 4, we should just deal with Chiefs and then bring in extra characters in the next two games.
It was confirmed that the co-op characters were Chief clones.
The Infinity doesn’t show up until a third of the way through the game, so until then Chief is alone. Because of this I’d imagine coop characters are just clones again, sadly.
It’s been confirmed that everyone plays as the Chief in Halo 4 co-op.

Well that is something else, but I guess the more chiefs the better?

They’re manifestations of Chief’s psyche, obviously. It’d be perfect! Cortana and Chief could go rampant together!
Although I don’t suppose it’s less rampant for the Master Chief to be imagining that there’s between one and three perfect copies of himself helping out.

-__- I was hoping for unique characters, but then again the beginning of the game wouldn’t make much sense.

So three other Master Chiefs that did not exist at any point in time with armor that is exclusive to the original Chief just happen to appear?

From Halo: CE and Halo 2, co-op characters weren’t canon. Reach’s and ODST’s aren’t either. Halo 3 established actual characters and introduced then as such with actual backstory.
New Spartans that didn’t exist does not fit in canonically.

Halo 4’s co-op characters OBVIOUSLY aren’t canon. They could be anything, really. Past the first few missions, the extra players could play as their Spartan, should the storyline progress in a way that allows for it. While it’s confirmed it’s just Chief clones, 343i could have made the players brutes and said “Meh, they’re not canon.”
Halo 3 can just sit as the sole game with canonically sound co-op characters. Maybe Halo 5 & 6 can have the player’s Spartan, since the Chief has been to the Infinity by then, but there’s really no reason NOT to do it in Halo 4, since there’s no canonical purpose or backstory to the co-op characters.
It’s been confirmed that we are just clones but personally I’d rather we play as our MP Spartans.
OP needs to do more research.
