Halo 4 Classic Mode (MP)

EDIT: I cannot believe the selfishness in this forum. The community is already split. Population wise, if Halo 4 is a success, these three minor playlists would be irrelevant. Don’t worry about focusing energy and the time needed to do this. Worry about the benefits. 343i can still make an excellent Halo 4 multiplayer along with this. In fact, it could even be better, as making a classic playlist could remind them of the past values.

EDIT2: This will not take away anything from the game. Halo 4 will still be Halo 4. It will still be the same quality it is going to be. Why do you not want to add something extra?

The fact that some people don’t want this is going to upset at least 3/4th of the other community. You all want Halo 4 to be like X Halo game, right? Well then, why can’t it include a bit from all the games?

ORIGINAL POST STARTS HERE

343 has a very hard job in front of them.

They have to satisfy many groups, people want different things.

So far, all I have seen is this or that.

Why can’t we have both/all?

So, you are all aware of Reach’s classic playlist. In Halo 4, they should take it one step further.

I understand that this could take a lot of time, but if done correctly, everyone could be satisfied.

Here is my idea:

Classic 2.0. Like the separate types of playlists in Reach, classic would have it’s own group.

There would be 4 classic play lists: (They would be played in Forge World Classic Remakes, or the default MP maps.)

Halo CE Classic
As similar to CE MP as possible, 3 shot pistol, 60 mag AR. Super grenades, indestructible vehicles, etc.
Halo 2 Classic
BR. Duel Wielding.
Halo 3 Classic
BR. Dual Wielding. New weapons. Equipment
Halo Reach Classic
DMR. AA’s. Reach Weapons.

Now, some of you may not be happy with one or two of these classic playlist returning, but you have the new Halo 4 vanilla play lists and 3 other classic play lists.

People are split into these groups, so why not satisfy everyone?

This will only add to the game, and does not take away anything. More variety.

lol you can’t argue with something that makes everyone happy. I will say I don’t see it happening.

Great idea! That way, only the selfish people could complain!

> Great idea! That way, only the selfish people could complain!

People will complain even if they did things perfectly.

As long as its ranked 1-50 halo 2 style.

Playlists like those may come later but the last thing they want to do is get caught up in what bungie did. Halo 4 needs to have its own identity, not be every halo game with some new gametypes.

Oh yea, that worked out well last time didn’t it? /sarcasm

No. A vehicle that’s a 1/3 motorbike, 1/3 airplane and 1/3 car would be cool, but it wouldn’t run nearly half as good as a car built solely for speed does. Halo 4 should be its own single thing, not trying to please everybody. Ala, Reach.

Why the HELL are people against this idea?

Are 3 tiny little playlists that threatening to you? What do you stand to lose? What’s your end game, exactly?

Because I don’t see any downside AT ALL to having a Classic section in Halo 4. By giving the old-style players this ONE little favor, they can be free to innovate in whatever areas they want without stepping on the toes of ANY of their fanbase. It ensures that no matter what, that core Halo gameplay remains in-tact.

You can brush this off as “Just your opinion”, but sometimes opinions are RIGHT. And guess what…This one IS.

As I’m sure someone has said before…If you’re against this, you have got to be downright IGNORANT, or one of the most selfish people on the PLANET.

After thinking about this with an open mind, they should actually do this.

I would be playing Halo CE/2 playlists, since the other ones got random BR/DMR lol.

But then, they’d need to make (OR re-make) one BR hitscan, one pistol non-hitscan, a bullet travel eandom BR and DMR with a broken bloom…

I’m not against this btw.

For once, I completely agree with you.

Why the HELL do you want to separate the community more then it already is? There shouldn’t be a need for any classic playlists in Halo 4 because 343 hopefully noticed the backlash of the armor abilities in reach. Why didn’t Halo 3 need a classic playlist? Because it played LIKE HALO.

I really hope 343 doesn’t listen to everything it’s fans are saying because honestly Halo: Reach has WAY TO MANY playlists. We don’t need 698329878923 casual playlists. Lone Wolves, Team Slayer, Double Team, Team Objective, Big Team Battle for RANKED 1-50 HALO 2 STYLE MATCHMAKING. Rumble Pit, Social Slayer, Social Object, Action Sack, Social Big Team for CASUAL NON-RANKED NO REWARD PLAYLISTS. I’m not sure why everyone needs to be CONSTANTLY rewarded with credits for every thing they do, no matter how minuscule their actions are. Halo 2 had a wonderful ranking system that should have been kept for each Halo after.

Social playlists are for people that don’t care and just want to have fun, Ranked are for people who want to play competitively. It is that hard to understand?

I was thinking about this, and depending on if Halo 4 is drastically different, it needs a classic playlist.

Why not just make a single classic 4v4 playlist that contains several classic gametypes? Several playlists seems silly.

It comes time to vote, and you have Halo 3 Slayer, Halo Reach CTF, Halo 2 Swat.

To me that just makes the game a mess and splits the community. Halo CE, 2 and 3 never needed eighty different ways to play, they were all good in their own right. How about a single good game that is it’s own thing.

LOL that’s a lot playlists…But seriously imo, I think you are going overboard with the waaaayy too many playlists thing. Sure splitting the player base is bad…but adding say 3 more playlists and then possibly condensing the halo 4 playlists a bit (maybe) isn’t so bad is it? Not when you compare it to going all the way one way but not another and then end up -Yoink!- off HALF of the player base and causing them to just stop playing Halo…

The term “Halo 4 Classic Mode” is redundant.

Reach, like ODST, is a spinoff. It will NOT be the template for the next trilogy. The previous trilogy will be the template for the next trilogy. That’s right, Halo CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3 will be the games from which Halo 4 will be based. How do I know this? Well, just as in the last three games of the trilogy, the next game picks up right where the last one left off. We know this to be true for Halo 4. Therefore we can expect to see any weapons/vehicles that appeared in the first three games (and they should work at least as well as they did in Halo 3) and/or newer stuff. Gameplay should be similar to Halo 3 since you will be a SPARTAN II (Master Chief).

Therefore, gameplay (campaign and MM) will be “classic”

The only type of playlists I want to see in Halo 4 is Halo 4. If I want to play the other games online I still have the disks (and I expect H2 MM will return). I don’t want to play CE style H4.

No, I want Halo 4 to be Halo 4.

Too many options is a bad thing

A very bad thing, Hell just look at reach tried to do.

That wasn’t the reason Reach was scrutinized. The many game types was a very welcome edition to Reach, had it been in Halo 2 and 3, it would have made the games better.

Reach was disliked among the some of the community because of mainly AA’s and bloom.

> No, I want Halo 4 to be Halo 4.

Halo 4 will still be Halo 4. This is an addon.
