*The Clan Community would be grateful if this thread could become sticky, thanks.
Halo 4 offers players the widest array of custom game settings in the entire franchise. Because of this the community of clans that play Halo 4 will obviously argue tooth and nail about Clan Match etiquette, rules, and regulations. As such, I have decided to make this thread, which I hope will grow and blossom via community input to become the hub of information on Clan Match settings, rules, and technicalities.
As no discussion exists yet. I am going to start by simply listing default Matchmaking settings that appear in the various playlists of the game. For the time being, Matchmaking settings are to be used for Clan Matches. These settings will be liable to change over the course of discussion in this thread to create a competitive clan-match environment.
General Regulations and Technicalities.
-
A Clan Matches scheduled date and time MUST be agreed upon by both clans.
-
Clan Matches can occur in several different gametypes, and play settings, but will always be 2 teams of any pre-determined size, agreed upon by both clans. From 1v1 to 8v8.
-
Clan Matches will always occur as a “Best of [Odd Number of Matches]”. This can be any odd number agreed upon by both clans. From 1 to <><>.
-
Clan Matches can occur entirely in a specific setting based on a style of gametype, such as Vanilla, MLG, SWAT, or even several matches of a specific gametype, such as Slayer, Extraction, Dominion, even Grifball etc, for the entire match, but can choose anything goes (as appropriate to player count) if they wish. This must be predetermined and agreed upon by both clans.
-
After determining player count, setting type, and match count, the clans select games in order of Odd numbered matches (1, 3, 5 etc) chosen by the Challengee, while Even numbered matches (2, 3, 6 etc) are chosen by the Challnger. The final match is to be agreed upon by both clans.
-
If a clan chooses, they can allow the other clan to choose matches in their place (For instance, the Challenger may allow the Challengee to choose match 2 in a best of 3, and/or the final match on their own.) However, if you forfeit your clan’s choice, the other clan is NOT obligated to forfeit one of their own choices. They can if they wish, but don’t have to.
-
A clan may sub-in Clan Members at any point in the match. However it is preferred from an etiquette standpoint to wait until between games out of respect, unless there is some emergency.
-
A clan can call in the aid of non-members, or clan alliances ONLY if the other clan agrees to it. In the event the other clan has already allowed you the aid of non-members, which you have used, and wishes the aid of non-members for themselves, you cannot deny it to them anymore.
-
The winners of a Clan Match are the team that wins the most total games in the match.
-
In the event a clan doesn’t have enough members to play on the scheduled clan-match day. Or is unable to play for some reason, they are not disqualified, and the other clan does not win by default. The match is simply delayed, or cancelled.
-
In the even a clan needs to stop early either because of a player leaving with no replacements available, or an emergency, you must either finish the game you are in, and then can postpone the remainder of a match until a later date, or forfeit the game you are in, then postpone the remainder of a match until a later date. If you do not schedule to continue the match another time, the other clan wins by default.
Valid clan match maps and settings will be posted in the following reserved posts. These WILL be changed as Clan Matches evolve over the course of Halo 4’s run to become standardized, fair settings for matches, similar to how MLG settings evolve.
