Halo 4: Christmas 2012

This is actually a very smart move and an unusual release date. As we all know, most of the huge games come out between October and Late November. This also gives people a fairly large amount of time to play these games and get tired of them. So once they’re sick of all of the games they’ve played to death and are looking for something new to play, they’ll look at Halo 4. And since it’s releasing around christmas and there’s no other games interfering with Halo 4’s release, sales might just be significantly larger.

Not saying it WILL release in time for Christmas, but if it does, these are my predictions. And never has a Halo game received a “Holiday” release window, so I believe this is certainly a possibility.

Have yet to see it from MS or 343 themselves so no.

I nearly bet it will be out in november or earlier

My money’s still on November.

You do know that Holiday 2012 reaches anywhere from October through December right? Typically all major releases happen before Black Friday so they can get a huge marketing push going. Common sense says October or November based on what Activision does with Black Ops 2. Microsoft will opt to launch within a month either before or after Call of Duty to avoid conflicting sales since Microsoft has a really good deal right now with Activision and the Call of Duty franchise.

I say, November 13th, if Call of Duty comes out in October or October 16th, if it Black Ops 2 gets a November release date.

Well if we look at the trends in the past…
Halo/Halo2 were released in late November.
Halo3/Reach were released in late September.

I am not sure if there is a correlation between the COD games and earlier releases… but only time will tell. Most devs don’t want to put their games in a December release because of the holiday shipping/crazes, they try and get it out in November to have more time to have that quarters sales reflect a larger number due to a big release.

I suppose this only helps to prove something…People say that CoD and Battlefield are Better than Halo…Well here’s the thing.

Just a reminder for people that do not remember the release dates of the past Halo Games.

Halo CE: November 15, 2001 Was a Thursday

Halo 2: November 9, 2004 Was a Tuesday

Halo 3: September 25,2007 Was a Tuesday

Halo Wars: March 3, 2009 Was a Tuesday

Halo 3 ODST: September 22, 2009 Was a Tuesday

Halo Reach: September 14, 2010 Was a Tuesday

Halo CE Anniversary: November 15, 2011 Was a Tuesday

Ok, don’t get me wrong, I love me some Halo but at this moment, Halo is most anticipated announced game of the year. At the moment Black Ops 2 hasn’t been officially announced and probably won’t be until June, but as soon as it is, the bro factor of Call of Duty will easily make it the most anticipated game of the year.

I hope it’s in September! That would mean only 5 more months… think about it in less than half a year we could be playing the newest installation of the greatest series of all mankind!

I would have to disagree can you imagine all the people that didn’t buy Reach just because it was not a direct continuation of H3 and if they did they probably traded it in because it didn’t have chief in it. I still think that this is the most anticipated game because everyone wants to know whats going to happen with MC. Just simple facts. Quality trumps Quantity this time.

Ok so game releases usually work around each other so that they don’t cause any major drops in sales, with that in mind lets look at the releases of announced/confirmed game from September to November. This will only include MAJOR releases, not small games. These dates are also subject to change and only a few are the actual release date.

Far Cry 3 Ubisoft Sep 04, 2012

Borderlands 2 2K Games Sep 18, 2012

Dead or Alive 5 Sep 29, 2012

Tomb Raider Square Enix Sep 30, 2012

XCOM: Enemy Unknown 2K Games Sep 30, 2012

Aliens: Colonial Marines SEGA Sep 30, 2012

Sleeping Dogs Square Enix Sep 30, 2012

Resident Evil 6 Capcom Oct 02, 2012

BioShock Infinite 2K Games Oct 16, 2012

Medal of Honor Warfighter Electronic A… Oct 23, 2012

Skylanders Giants Activision Oct 30, 2012

Assassin’s Creed III Ubisoft Oct 30, 2012

Halo 4 Microsoft Ga… Dec 30, 2012

Fable: The Journey Microsoft Dec 31, 2012

As is stands, November is wide open of MAJOR releases. Halo 4 and Black Op2 2 could easily take over the month as the 2 major releases, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Microsoft tries to get Halo 4 out before Call of Duty

You’re looking at it as a fan of the Halo series not as a business strategy. The fact is Call of Duty will sell more than Halo will because of the name Call of Duty. There are millions of people who don’t troll the gaming forums on the internet discussing this, they find out through friends or commercials that there’s a new Halo or a new Call of Duty, and right now, Call of Duty is more recognizable. This is because Activision pumps a new one out every year, which people gobble up. I’m looking at this as if I was trying to sell the game. Do you have an amazing franchise in Halo? Oh yes you do, but you’re competing against the marketing giant that is Activision.

I’m looking forward to buying the game. There aren’t any other games that can even contend with this one in terms of enormity.

I’m putting my money on September, I will be really annoyed if it actually will come out in December-I don’t want to wait to the end of the year to get Halo 4

In my opinion it should be released in Sept., Oct., or Dec. They should avoid the month of Nov. altogether because AC3 and CoD comes out that month and that doesn’t help Halo 4 at all.

ON Christmas?

Are they stupid? Why not a week before? And how credible is this website?

Companies dont usually release the big games in december I bet Microsoft will release Halo in september or November

They have always released Halo’s around September/October/November time so I would guess late october. Although I wish it was earlier. :frowning:
