The final quick time event while playing co-op with my friend jsut told both of us to “press RT to use machine gun” instead of pressing LT to plant the grenade. we where playing on normal if that helps anything.
Why is this a thing? I am currently playing on Legendary Solo and I am being told to “press RT to use machinegun” I have now died near 20 time. This is actually an under exaggeration as I have tried every button on the controller multiple times for the Quick Time Event for over an hour now. I know that it is actually supposed to read “Use LT to plant grenade” but this doesn’t work. I am loosing my cool and beginning to wish hateful obscenities upon the SOB designer who thought a QTE was a good idea and even worse shenanigans at the person who couldn’t prot the QTE to the XBone properly. Does this sequence even work? I have now given up as I’m not sure what to do at this point. This is the last gameplay of Halo 4 and I am unable to complete it… so dev, much QA.
All I really can do is tell you how unsatisfied with this I am as a core player. This is definitely a Priority 1 bug that some how made it on the disc and has managed to go unfixed for almost a year. Please prioritize, implement a fix, and resolve this issue.

As an update the correct button for “Press RT to use machinegun” is to spam the RB (Right Bumper). Just in case anyone else runs into this.
I came across this earlier and when it appeared on the screen I was really confused having played Halo 4 before on the 360. I went along with it anyway a couple of times before realizing they somehow have the prompt labeled completely wrong. So I just spammed every button on the controller to get it to work. I can’t believe that after almost 8 months they haven’t fixed something as simple as this.
Yeah whatever is mapped to your grenade is what you need to hit. This is a really stupid bug… plus why does it even say machine gun and not grenade? lol
Like Loki Sage said above the correct button is RB. I just watched a youtube video of the 360 version and the prompt should say “Use RB to plant grenade”.
I experienced this as well. Took me about 5 tries to realize that it was supposed to be LT for Grenade. What really bothers me is that whoever put “RT to fire Machine Gun” in the game doesn’t know much about the game. There is no a single gun in the game called “Machine Gun”.
What button layout are you using? It doesn’t do this using “bumper jumper”. It says press LT to plant grenade as always with this layout.
