Is anyone else hoping this doesn’t turn out to be the final box art of the game?

It seems that the whole “stand here and look badass” pose is extremely overdone now in the market, both in movies and videogames. Nearly all shooter games just have a guy standing on the cover trying to look as cool as possible. Not to mention Master Chief looks like he’s straight out of an anime in the picture. It just has a totally different vibe from literally every other Halo game ever.
I’m not saying take Master Chief out of the picture, but make it not so bland with him just standing there looking at you like a “badass”.
I really hope this is just a placeholder, and a good and artistic cover like Reach and Halo 3 get released soon.
I was always under the impression that the box art shown there was a placeholder, but I guess we’ll see when the time comes.
It’s just a placeholder. Seriously though, the whole guys standing there looking badass thing is getting old.

I don’t really mind it, actually. Could be better, but I wouldn’t complain if it shipped like that.
It’s just the box art so I don’t really care but it looks like that is not a placeholder.
Pre-order anyone?
No OM f e with that pose. You know, the pic that say wake up John on the back with like a paragraph poem about the game and other pics. I like this pic. I don’t see what’s really wrong with it much.

Personally, I’d rather have the expirence of going to the midnight release like I am planning on doing and actually giving the omens and being with fellow gamers and party rockin in tha house. Than to “pre order” it off amazon and have it come in the mail a day after the release.
I agree. It’s alright, but I want a better background and for him to be holding a weapon. Maybe have Cortana on the back. I think the background should be the “mouth” of the Shield World (that’s what I think of it as anyways). The new one looks too vague and I think MC’s armor is on a later iteration than that one.

I agree (except for the party rockin, so lame). The point of that link was to show what the box art looks like
The “Wake up John” pic would be cool.

Lol, but let’s be honest here, that will never stop. The one man pose. There aren’t many other ways to effectively show off the box art, especially when you have a main character. I hope it’s a place holder though.
I think the cover will turn out to be a picture of the shield world opening to John’s ship, and a faded out Background of Chief standing over the Shield World with his arms wrapped around it. - Looks pretty nice ehh? Or just him standing up over the planet.

I really don’t like it either and was thinking the exact same thing. Not very creative or interesting, just Master Chief standing there looking at you. I hope it’s a placeholder,
i hate that cover, i was hoping for Mass effect 3 to have a different cover but it followed the trend, so i hope Halo 4 has an awesome cover and not this alleged placeholder

I didn’t notice how much times game developers do that until now.

What’s the blue and white one at the bottom?
I think it looks fine, although having a little bit more going on in the image wouldn’t hurt. Like adding a bubble next to the Chief’s head saying “I need a weapon.”
Last time I checked I don’t stare at my game case when I play Halo Reach. As a matter of a fact I’ve only seen the case maybe twice since Reach has been released. It really doesn’t matter what is on the gamecase. I’m going to see it once when gamestop hands it to me (as the first person in line) and maybe a second longer look while I’m installing the game(which is if I don’t feel like getting a shower while the game installs). The fact that this is what were talking about shows how tight lipped 343 is with this game…

Without going and checking for sure I think it is Ninja Gaiden.
I’d prefer to see something like THIS. Simple, attention grabbing, and beautiful, unlike the Michael Bay wet dream that most North American marketing is today.
