Would anyone else like the idea of booster map packs just like Gears of War 3? If you don’t know what they are the booster map pack is free. Everyone gets 2 maps for free to have the ability to play the other maps from the most recent DLC in matchmaking. Pretty much in a nutshell… Every user can play all the new DLC in matchmaking but they don’t get the extras that come along (for Halo it would be armor and similar things). You also can’t unlock the achievements attatched to those certain maps.
So whats the point for one to buy the DLC if it’s going to be free? As a buyer you get extras like armor, achievements, etc… You also get the maps a month in advanced. And you get to play the maps in customs which ever way you would like.
What makes this idea good for people who aren’t buying the maps. You don’t get anything that is associated with the map packs other than the ability to play the maps in matchmaking. Basically a nice way to test run the maps.
Why is this a good thing for everyone?
The entire population would always have the DLC for mm and it would never seperate people when DLC is released. Plus everyone gets a couple free maps here and their. Which would keep people coming back. Maps always taste better when they’re free.
Please consider this 343.
What is everyone elses thoughts on the booster packs and the ability for everyone to play in MM on all the maps?
> Sounds good but people would complain as the armour would have to be on the disc and paying for it would start a rage.
Although it’s an integral part of the file tagging system, I believe the problem would be possible to solve with some tweaks to the engine. This means that Halo 4 could easily come with possibility of Forge and armor DLC. It all depends does 343i see it as important enough to make the extra work.

Either way it is not that important as it is not the main focus of the topic at hand. This post is about whether or not booster packs and the system of GoW maps is a good idea for Halo.
Armor is just one of the things extra along with other things like forge and custom games and other stuff involving the maps if purchase rather than get free.
Halo fans only purpose in life is to complain. If someone is really going to complain about armor but they are getting free maps for multiplayer whos the real idiot here? I have a very strong love/hate relationship with the Halo community.

HES LYING! DON’T LISTEN TO HIM!
I like this idea, but you still get too much for downloading something for free one month later that would normally be 800-1200 msp. Maybe 1 less map as well?

I think this is how I’ll put it. In Gears the season pass holders basically pay for everyone elses multiplayer maps. It’s like if you gave someone money to keep a web site running. Is everyone helping out? NO. BUT the money that you are using will help the whole community. I’m fine paying for a season pass to know that everyone will be able to play the maps online. You know what I’m sayin? It’s worth it for the die hards to pay for something so that everyone else can enjoy it online. Maybe I’m just generous when it comes to muh HaLoz? lol
